How Do You Bounce Back From Failure Ideas and Tips

Failure is one life’s toughest teachers and it’s always there to tell us a thing or two about what we did wrong. but how do you bounce back from failure? Often times, it feels harsh, unsolicited and downright hurtful. Other times it feels like it’s there, looking back at us from over our shoulders, always hitting those shame and guilt buttons we have deep inside.

How Do You Bounce Back From Failure?

Every time failure sets in, there’s also an emotional storm raging inside us – some of us have the ability to weather this storm with more ease, while others go straight through it, leaving no parts of themselves unscathed. But what if there’s a way to look at failure differently and bounce back from it with new-found strength? Here’s how you can achieve this internal shift regarding failure:

1. Reframe the Setback Realistically

When we face failure in our lives we tend to go back to it over and over in our minds and endlessly ruminate everything that happened, without really going anywhere. We place the event in the same light every time we revisit it, without really creating a new context around it. The challenge is to, first of all, be honest with yourself and admit failure in the most objective possible way, without exaggerating the downsides of indulging in your negative feelings

The next step is to release all emotions when you replay the events in your mind and try to implement counterfactual thinking. You can do this by replaying the events back in your mind and think about what you could’ve done differently, so you wouldn’t be facing this outcome now. This kind of exercise will help you become more responsible, instead of playing the victim and submitting to your emotions, while also providing a valuable lesson for your future endeavors.

2. Don’t Stay in Failure for Too Long

Truly resilient people are able to leave this defeatism scenario early on, while also allowing themselves to feel hurt by their failure. Resilience is actually built on failure, by learning the right lessons and keeping your eyes on the prize. There are so many famous inventors and artists that have failed countless times, yet they didn’t surrender to this negative-colored context and kept striving to obtain the desired results.

JK Rowling, the famous Harry Potter novels author, wrote her first manuscript after a failed marriage, with a small baby she needed to care for all by herself, while her living means were meager and insufficient. And as if this wasn’t enough, she sent her manuscript to twelve different publishing houses only to have her mailbox filled with rejection letters before she finally got accepted. There are many such cases of resilience throughout history, just as there are cases of people who quit on their dreams and goals just before they could reach them. It’s important to get back up and connect yourself with your ‘why’ and empowering emotions as often as you can.

3. Reconnect to What Makes You Happy

Dwelling too long on the negatives can dull your senses, your ability to clearly perceive your life’s purpose and your natural tendency to navigate towards what makes you happy. After each failure, it’s important to take the time and reconnect yourself to what really and truly makes you happy at the time being.

It doesn’t really matter what it is – it may be dancing by yourself in the dark, wandering aimlessly in long walks or singing out from the top of your lungs. It needs to be an activity that solely fulfills you, regardless of what other people say. An activity that heightens your feelings of joy, excitement, satisfaction, and involvement. Whatever it is, engaging in this type of activity after failures will reconnect you with who you truly are and give you the sense of meaningfulness that was perhaps lost in the process. The pursuit of happiness is something we all need to engage in from time to time, regardless of our minor or major setbacks.

Ultimately, failure still remains life’s biggest teachers, regardless of how harsh its teaching style is. By paying enough attention to what new lesson it brings us regarding ourselves and the world, we may be able to bounce back from it sooner, while also finding new and better ways to achieve our goals the second time around.

How Do You Bounce Back From Failure

Much Ado About Success: Possible For Everyone in 6 Steps

Success! What an overused, misunderstood word!

Many motivational speakers speak about what produces success. They promote varied ideas to gain it, such as writing goals, developing self-confidence, setting minds on objectives, etc. But they don’t tell what success is!

Yes, writing goals is helpful — and keeping them in front of us. Rewriting them, adjusting them, is part of that. Today, writing goals is especially helpful because of countless distractions around us, especially the non-factual ones.

Yet, at least one successful person never wrote down goals. Rush Limbaugh said he’s never done that—and none can claim he’s not successful in his arena, no matter our political persuasion. So, writing goals isn’t a requisite.

1. Self-confidence and self-esteem

Developing better self-confidence is helpful. But, the current practice of giving unwarranted ‘rewards’ for just competing for causes confusion, not confidence. Plus, the culture’s habit of name-calling when people stand up for something or someone damages confidence. Yet, thinking we need to tell ourselves how smart or talented we are or how we can do something better than another isn’t the answer, either. We know within ourselves if we are smart or talented, and to compare ourselves to others is pointless.

Nothing builds self-esteem more than striving for, and doing, good — and doing what is right, despite risks. Seeking goodness, utilizing our talents in the best ways, helping others, all help us see our true worth, which develops our confidence and happiness! It may seem odd initially, but self-esteem increases humility which is attractive! Why else seek humility?

St Augustine said, “It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.” St Augustine was a learned man, a theologian, a philosopher, an influential man in his era and today. Could he be right?

2. Patience and Goals

Now, setting our minds on our ultimate objectives is important. Yet, if the goal is a long-range goal, (the best ones are!), we need the patience to live with the delay, not get discouraged and stay focused. Why else seek patience?

Psychologists report that patience is power, born of understanding! So, we grow in internal strength and endurance, making life easier, and making our bodies healthier!

Of course, for ‘believers,’ prayer is powerful for goal assistance, though we don’t always see the effect. One thing, for sure: prayer never hurts!

3. Our own kind of success

But striving for/gaining success is never good when it’s a result of ‘walking on others.’ If we leave a trail behind us of people hurting because of our activities/words, then that’s a fake success. It cannot produce goodness but results in a rotten tree that produces rotten fruit. We may obtain more money, more power, more prestige. But in truth, we’ll be a failure. Looking inside ourselves, if we’re honest, we cannot feel good about obtaining gain through others’ losses. Though we may try to puff ourselves up, ignore our faults, and forget others’ pain, we will ultimately find misery from guilt.

If we experienced harm through someone rising in rank due to unethical practices or injustice, we cannot let ourselves sink to the same level. We can find our own success, no matter where we are, what our status is, how much we make.

4. Ingenuity

In addition, we don’t find success via mandated to-do lists. Without freedom of using our ingenuity, we may accomplish tasks, but not find success in them. Likewise, if we mandate others, that doesn’t create success for us or them.

I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m no expert and I’ve not made millions or even hundreds giving advice on success. I’ve only advised teams, in several companies, and I was ‘in the trenches with them,’ working for their successes as well as mine. Most of this is based on a combination of common sense, experience as a manager and an underlying, referring to wise leaders, and studying ‘success.’

5. So, what is ‘success?’

‘To each, his own!’ We can be successful in challenging conversations. We can find success in difficult projects. We can appreciate success in our hobbies.

There are different degrees, different types, of success. We’re only failures if we quit trying. The famous Zig Ziglar said, “A failure is an event, not a person.” So, when we persist, we’re being successful in advancing toward our goals!

So, perhaps ‘success’ is simply found in setting our minds on goals, being patient, and doing good in helping others in the meantime!

Consider a poor, old woman who begged for food and money. She said, “When you don’t have anything, then you have everything.” Sound like success? Hint:  She didn’t beg for herself.

6. Actions speak for themselves

Mother Teresa served others/ loved everyone through her words and actions. She served the lowly, the dying, the dirty, never thinking about herself. In her humble work in an obscure location, was she successful?

She received the Nobel Peace Prize for spreading love, and 120 other awards/ honors, including the highest U.S. civilian award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. But she would not claim success, only continual efforts.

Mother Teresa made powerful statements, relevant here:

If you’re kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you do good today, people forget it tomorrow. Do good anyway.

If you do your best, it will never be enough. Do your best anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some will be jealous. Be happy anyway.

If you’re successful, you’ll win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

There’s not much to be said after that!

How To Be Happy In An Unhappy World In 7 Easy Steps

Can we be happy in this crazy world? Speaking of the world today as a place of happiness appears to just be “Pollyanna” positive thinking, not dealing with reality.

When we consider the present world, there’s much poverty and persecution on one side. In America, poverty is minimal and the ‘persecution’ is verbal. We would think, then, that America would be happier. But, generally, no.

1. Gratitude for the Blessings

What we find is those in poverty are grateful for every gift, every blessing, every morsel of food, every day of life. They are happy! They have joy! However, in America few are satisfied. There’s envy, grudges, the struggle for more money, power, and status. People are most stressed and worried.

How can someone who has, basically, nothing be happier than one with everything (or the potential for it)? They find happiness within themselves, yet they’re not concerned with only themselves. They are selfless and generous. These people find happiness in life every day, appreciating each meal, each moment.

They know the truth, they know the reality of eternity. Moreover, they’re patient and trustful. Can a wealthy country learn from a “third-world” country? Not in technology, true. Not in politics, no. Probably not in infrastructure, maintenance, or most other areas. But can we learn from the people, the strong souls? YES!

The old adage, ‘There are no atheists in foxholes’ is accurate. Those in ‘third-world’ countries are in ‘fox holes’ and continue to hope. They believe in eternity and what it offers. Also, they know their current situation is temporary. Hope makes them strong.

2. People of Hope

We in America are spoiled. Many have no idea of the struggle we once endured that made us the amazing country we are. We once were also a people of hope… and belief… and love. But, today, most Americans have lost all sense of Faith. It hardly exists. Many of those who do ‘believe,’ don’t live their faith. Thus, the lack of hope—and, as a result, the lack of love. Charity is rarely observed.

Comments on social media are appalling. Hate and name-calling are prominent. People are quick to criticize and judge. Worse, they’re quick to attack. There is little attempt to understand. What good can come of it? Does the hate satisfy? Does criticism bring internal joy? Absolutely not! It hurts us—in many ways.

3. Step Over Criticism

Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” So, even if we are criticized or called names, we don’t have to respond similarly. We don’t need to feel offended by those who insult us, showing their ignorance. We can rise above, pause, breath, smile—knowing the insult is untrue, that the name doesn’t apply.  “Let it go” and ignore the ignorant.

We can be faith-filled, hopeful, caring people again. We can build up our faith in an eternal Deity. People can learn to trust. It’ll make a change in attitude, a realization that hate and unrest are upsetting in themselves and within us, hindering, hurting. A change requires yearning for peace, especially internal peace. Isn’t that what we all truly desire?

4. Calm Down In Order To Be Happy

In the recent movie, “Rampage,” the gorilla, “George,” would get upset and his trainer motioned for him to calm down. In the former condition, George was dangerous. When the trainer insisted George calm down, George would respond, calm down, and be able to listen and be reasoned with. Then, he was also the means for doing good!

We’re the same. If we’re upset, we cannot think clearly. So, doing good is the last thing we consider or even want at the time. But we must act like humans and make ourselves calm down to be able to consider all sides of an issue or situation—and then act and react reasonably, fairly. We can all seek and find that peace of mind and heart if we truly desire it. How can we not desire it?

5. We all have faults

No matter what we think, we’re no better than the other person. They may be faulty in an obvious way—but we are faulty in another way.
Continual fretting, constant upset– about political issues and every item on social media which the media and some famous people encourage– affects attitudes, relationships, and also health! It damages bodies internally, causes pain, worsens conditions, and eventually can even kill. Worse, it can erupt in battles with others and someone getting seriously hurt. No good can come of it.

But, also, something few consider today is how it damages the soul. The soul lasts past death into eternity. If we all considered that what we do today in this life determines how we spend ‘forever,’ there would be less pain and less hate in this world.

6. Striving for happiness

So, let’s work on getting along, not jump to conclusions, consider the pros and cons of each issue and the motivations of each side. We should ask ourselves:  Why am I so upset about this? What is the source of the underlying grief I feel? Even if we don’t believe in eternity, we will be happier in this world if we realize we are not “all that!” We’re just another person striving for happiness—may be in the wrong way.

What can happen when we ignore the ignorant, let go of pride, strive for peace, seek hope, and practice love? We will be more productive, more successful—at our job, in our family, with friends, in life. We will be happier in this world. Then, if there’s an eternity, we’ll certainly find ourselves in an even happier place!

7. Is there an eternity?

Blaise Pascal said, “I would rather live as if there was a God and die to find out there isn’t than to live as if there isn’t and find out there is.” It’s called Blaise’s Wager. Blaise was a mathematician, a philosopher, a theologian, a physicist! So, he wasn’t ignorant! He was a wise man providing advice we would do good to follow.

5 Things To Know About 100 Years of Homework Writing

Homework has come a long way. This means even as students of this age partake in assignments, it is noteworthy that it is an activity far from being dispensable. Even in the unforeseeable future, students will still be doing different types of assignments on a day-to-day basis.

Before looking into a brief history of homework, the question is of what significance are these tasks to your grades?  A worrying trend is that many students do partake in assignments just for the sake of it. Though when looked at from a scholarly point of view, there is more to it than what meets the eye.  What’s more, is that how you partake in these tasks matters a lot.

1. Well, here are a few practical homework tips to keep in mind;

  • Planning is an important step to doing assignments
  • Always locate a quite place from audio-visual distractions
  • Gather all reference materials you will need before settling to work on an assignment to limit unnecessary movements
  • Consult with fellow classmates if need be
  • Consider checking out a good do homework for me
  • Research on a subject you don’t understand extensively beforehand
  • To save time, you can always start as soon as a task is assigned, start with difficult questions and wind up with easier ones

In the age of the internet, students looking for tips on how to go about these tasks can very well look out for a website that does their homework. There are many of them out there. However, taking note that assignments come in different kinds. It is important to know what sort of work you have been issued with before hiring an ideal helper.

2. A brief look at homework history and pertinent issues

Homework has become so much engraved into learning culture to an extent that it is practically impossible to do away with it. Further, pay someone to do your homework has become something attached to it. Things get more demanding as one climbs up the ladder of academia. Therefore you really must buckle up for challenges that come with it, be it doing things by one’s yourself or hiring a professional assignment helper.

3. Proponents of assignments have always argued from a moralistic point of view.

They say if left to idle while at home, students’ minds can easily become infiltrated with unruly morals. Therefore keeping them busy with assignments is the best thing to do.
On the other hand, those who are opposed to homework hold that students need time to rest from schoolwork, at least to avoid mental saturation. Cumulatively, all these have culminated into attitude change towards certain educational activities.  Though, handling assignments is not as demanding as it was in the 19th century, thanks to the internet.

4. By a click of the button

Students can access tons of information of any kind on any subject. This is good news to those looking for reliable help with my math homework agency. Eventualities such as school dropouts which marred learning in the early 20th century also led to a lot of questions. Particularly with regard to three or so hours which students spend every night at home doing assignments but with little to show for it.

Issues like recitation, memorization, and drilling were largely seen as some of the most unfortunate outcomes out of these tasks. Students could be asked to recite what they have done in their assignments, something which experts argued added no value to academic progress. Another issue that came to the fore was the mental health and well-being of children as experts argued that they couldn’t contain a lot of workloads. A revolutionary era was to be born when publications advocating for the abolishment of homework hit their peak in the 1900s.

While some districts in the U.S and other parts of the world did away with homework, strong belief on assignments, almost cultic or faith-like in nature is still being held by parents, teachers, and educators. This led to a revival of assignments and the reversal of some abolishment policies.

5. Some of the issues proponents of assignments advocated for include;

  • School work goes beyond the classroom
  • Value embedded on intrinsically intellectual activity and non-intellectual activities
  • Homework makes students more responsible
  • The belief that assignments are liked to how rigorous a curriculum is
  • Good educators are those who issue assignments

It is important to note that every assignment falls within a category, something which you should know as a student. Here are some notable ones:

  • Practical homework which are meant to help student learn and acquire certain skills
  • Preparation tasks which are about new things to be taught in future but can be learnt in advance
  • Extension assignment which seek application of skills and knowledge
  • Integration assignments are about application of skills to specific tasks such as research work
