10 Tips to Find the Positive in Your First College Year

As much as you can be excited to go to college, it’s also an intimidating experience for many. After all, you are a young adult who has only very recently graduated high school and might not have any idea of how to live alone.

How things turn out in the first year of college can significantly impact the rest of your time there, not to mention your life ahead. And it is nearly impossible to avoid the negative experiences altogether.

So, here we have prepared a few tips that can help you navigate your first year of college and stay positive.

First College Year

1.   Get Academic Help if Needed

The study load in college is going to be much more than what you were used to in high school. As such, you might find yourself struggling to keep up with the deadlines. However, many students fail to realize that there is help out there that you can easily access if needed.

For instance, there are academic platforms where you can find samples of college essays to use as reference. One useful tip is to get professional paper writing help by WritePaper, where you can discuss your paper with an expert who is thorough in your area of study. Ove time. You are sure to pick up a few tricks from these seasoned pros, and your paper will reflect high quality.

2.   Get Organized

The earlier you get your study schedule organized, the easier it would be to find time for other activities. It would not hurt to keep a to-do list and a planner. These days, you can even find mobile apps that let you do most of the organizing, including keeping track of your assignments.

Before the classes start, you should also develop a note-taking strategy and stick to it. It is important that you keep your notes organized. You never know when you might have to refresh your knowledge for a grade or recall a book that your professor recommended in the last semester.

3.   Reach Out to Others

Remember, all the other students in your class are in the same boat. They are also looking to meet new people, build friendships, and make their college experiences as memorable as they can.

And as such, you do not have to hesitate to reach out to others. You could offer to help a classmate study or suggest that you do an assignment together to avoid the burden of doing everything on your own.

You can branch out to a different group of acquaintances in other classes. Colleges have all kinds of people, and you will be able to find people you relate to. If you do not succeed on the first try, do not be disappointed and give up. It is just a matter of time before you find others in your wavelength.

4.   Stay From Emotional Draining People

While it is important to build relationships, you should also never let a friendship affect your mental health. Unfortunately, you might run into people who can have a bad effect on you. Do not waste your time trying to make yourself more appealing to these people. You do not even have to feel guilty about cutting off such people.

Remember that college is not only about partying, so if you aren’t a party person, there is no need to adapt yourself. You cannot pretend to be someone you are not for the entire course of the college. Remaining yourself is the best way to earn respect from others.

5.   Join a Club or Two

Everybody has interests outside of academics. In college, you will find at least one person who shares the same likes (or dislikes, for that matter). These days, campuses are flooding with clubs, society, and student bodies. Getting involved in these will help you be more socially active, especially in your first year.

Some clubs are indeed hard to get into. But in such cases, you might also find another one with students sharing the same interest, just not as fancy as the ‘official’ one. If you can’t find what you like, you and your friends can even consider starting one by yourselves. And these do not look bad on your resume either.

6.   Speak Up in Classes

Most professors adopt the Socratic teaching method these days, where the lectures are more interactive. Even if you are hesitant to speak up, you should take advantage of opportunities to ask questions and engage with the class. Remember, this is what you are in college for, and no opinions are wrong.

Moreover, some colleges also grade students based on their performance in college. So sitting quietly at the back of the room will not get you any points.

Speak Up in Classes

7.   Stay in Touch with Family and Friends

Once you start college, you will gradually start growing apart from your high school friends unless you make an effort to stay in touch with them. It is easy to forget to call your family, especially after you have had a tiring day. However, your friends and family back home are your support system, and they can help ease the transition to a new world.

After all, they know you better than anyone else, so they can pick up on how you are feeling or what you are going through, even when you think that they don’t understand.

8.   Relax

Most of us begin college worrying about what others will think about us. But college is where you figure out yourself, and yet again, remember that your classmates are also trying to make a good impression.

In other words, you should avoid being hard on yourself at all times. Make it a point to take things easy now and again. Keep your textbooks away for a day, and go out and do something you like. If not, you will find yourself burnt out.

9.   Get Out of the College Campus

You might feel it’s not a good idea to avoid going outside campus, although it’s likely for good intentions. However, staying within the campus can also feel confining after a while. You should also go outside and explore the town.

You can take runs in the morning, walk, ride a bike, or use public transportation to find new areas and interesting places. This will undeniably be a good break out of the rut.

10. Take Care of Yourself

Without your parents cooking your meals, you might be on a new turf when it comes to eating well. When you rely on fast food, it is easy to lose track of how much you are eating. Without a healthy diet, you might find yourself tired, unable to focus or face other challenges.

It is crucial that you add sleep, exercise, and a good diet to your priorities when in college. Bear in mind that you are responsible for taking care of yourself. You might need to put some effort into it. Still, college need not be daunting at all if you look at it as a new opportunity to learn, explore, and figure yourself out – just like everyone else.

Top 3 Tips for Organizing Your Study Space for Best Focus

What are the signs that can determine the average modern student? Rounded shoulders, poor eyesight, a curved spine … But if you look into the room of almost any student, you will notice that not everyone pays due attention to the workplace where a student spends time doing homework. Unfortunately, well-equipped study space is more likely the exception rather than the rule.

Student success is largely dependent upon the study space. It is much more difficult to concentrate attention at home, but it is absolutely possible. Some are able to “pull themselves together” sitting on the couch with a laptop or a book in their hands, while others need a separate area with a table, a desk lamp, shelves for books and accessories, or even a whole separate room.

In short, a workplace can be organized anywhere – for this, you need only your desire and imagination. Today, the experts from dissertation proposal writing service will talk about how to do it right, so that students can improve their working capacity and achieve excellent results in their studies, and could relax while making pauses.

Since you can arrange your desktop anywhere, we offer several decent options:

–         A workplace in the bedroom: it is better to make it by the window, in a closet or niche, without losing even a centimeter of usable area.

–         A study space in a closet or pantry is generally a super-economical option when space is used mainly vertically thanks to convenient attachments to the desktop;

–         A workplace on the balcony has a number of advantages. It is isolated, hidden from prying eyes and allows you to implement many ideas for a desktop with your own hands. Hang out home-made pots with flowers, make shelves for storing;

–         A study space on the windowsill. Transforming the window sill to the tabletop, you get an ergonomic workspace with a gorgeous view. In addition, the workplace at the window is always provided with natural light.

–         Another option is a living room with a workplace, where it can not only perform its immediate function. Also divide a room into functional areas if it is centered.

1. Furniture must match the height of a student

A “correct” chair must necessarily be with the back. A correct chair should be chosen so that the feet are completely on the floor and the knees are bent at a right angle. It will also be very good if the height and angle of the backrest are adjusted.

The desktop is first of all not a piece of furniture, but a working tool. And it should be comfortable. The basic rule when choosing a table is that its edge should be a few centimeters below chest level. So that you can safely rest on the edge of the table surface with your elbows. There should be a distance of 8 – 10 cm between the edge of the tabletop and the chest.

There also must be a place where you can store accessories. If there are no drawers in the table, purchase a small cabinet or hanging shelves.

Choosing furniture for a student’s office, it is also worth looking at unusual design solutions. After all, even a comfortable desk and an ergonomic chair can have an original shape. Any student will sit on a stool-saddle or knee-seat chair from a classic headset with great pleasure. Modern young people spend a lot of time at the computer, so in the student’s office, a comfortable stand for a laptop and a soft, wide chair that is comfortable to climb with your legs will not be superfluous. The specificity of some types of training requires special furniture. To work with the drawings, you need a simple rectangular table. Students of creative universities (artists, musicians, cameramen) have their own specifics and their own requirements for the design of a studio room.

2. Color treatment

Anecdotal evidence suggests that a creative person (and a student, of course, is a creative person!) must be surrounded by bright colors and details. Perhaps these are the details, but it is important not to overdo it with rich colors. The fact is that low-key neutral tones help to focus better on the main thing and not to be distracted by trivia. The yellow color positively affects the workflow, increasing activity and helping to focus. But it should not be too bright. It is not recommended to choose blue and purple for the working space, as they reduce the performance. There is no place in the office for the red color: it only causes irritability. The black color helps you to collect your thoughts. It is better to combine it with lighter colors, otherwise, you will get tired quickly.

3. Lighting

For eye health, it is good when the table is located near the window, ideally on the left. However, if there is a lot of sun in the room during the day, it is nice to have blackout curtains or window blinds to darken the room. For lighting, in this case, you can use a desk lamp or a lamp above the table – usually, this light is enough. “Night persons” must always use a lamp with sufficient brightness so as not to spoil the vision during a long stay at the computer at night. Ordinary lamps, LED source models with a clamp are convenient, since then you can fix it in any place or put it on a stand.

A lamp itself should be protected by the ceiling, thanks to which the light is scattered evenly. Thus, recommendations on power – 60.75 watts. This is quite enough for high-quality lighting in the evenings.

Don’t forget to be attentive to details. Your creative mess is good, but folders, organizers, shelves will help you organize your workspace and not lose important documents.

Appreciation Letter: Thank You Note For Health Heroes

I write this appreciation letter because I want to thank and appreciate all the people who contribute to the prevention of the COVID-19 virus outbreak these days.

Appreciation Letter – Thank You Note

  1. Infectious doctors. Thank you for dedicating your life to studying these forms of reality. You must have had a call to do such a job, otherwise I can’t imagine how you could choose such a life.
  2. Military doctors. Thank you for choosing to become such a doctor and the efforts you make these days.
  3. Any person representing medical personnel in the entire world. Thank you very much for your efforts for the patients you treat these days. I think people who care about other people’s health deserve great respect.
  4. Nurses in the health system. How valuable you are, thank you for your continuous movement in which you do dozens of small actions that matter so much in recovering a human’s health.
  5. People cleaning in hospitals. I think they are the most important in this period and thank them very much. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to be in their place. When I think of them, a humility pours on me. What if I didn’t have them? God forbid.
  6. People who are cleaning the streets during this period. I was watching today from the window two men who came to pick up the garbage. I thought “God, they came today too.” What would it be like to be in their place these days? And yet they were on duty. A silence settled over my mind as I thought of them.
  7. State authorities responsible for emergency situations. Thank you and I appreciate you because without you we had to think about everything now. And how could you think, make decisions, get the agreement of others and implement something in a few days. You can not. But you have gone through this, studied, learned about national emergency situations. I’m glad I don’t have to think about the thousands of procedures we need during this time.
  8. Mothers who disinfect, disinfect, disinfect. Thank you and I appreciate you for your continuous fight against the microbes from which you come out so many times victorious.
  9. Professional drivers, especially big trucks drivers. Wow, I don’t drive, I don’t have a car. In vain we would have money, if we did not have a professional driver to bring us everything we needed from point X to point Y. Their contribution is not visible and will be forgotten. Such a pity. I give them thanks and pray to God to give them more health during this time, to bring us whatever we needed, anywhere.
  10. Ladies and gentlemen from cashiers everywhere. I almost have no words. Just silence. I try to write that I thank you and I appreciate you. What would it be like if you were not doing that type of work? Who is stronger at the moment, you the cashier, or I the buyer. I only meet you once, but you meet all the buyers.
  11. People in government who made the right decisions at the right time. Again, I wouldn’t want to be in their place now. But if I were, I would try to keep my mind as clear as possible so that I could act with clarity. They are working very hard in the administration of the country at the moment and I thank them all.
  12. People who returned to their native country. Your life is over your head. Maybe you didn’t even have time to feel scared. In no case would I want to be in your place. Thank you and I appreciate you. You have children, you have dear people in your native country, because for them you went to work abroad. And now you can no longer support them, and moreover, it is possible to hurt them. What a burden on your shoulders. Be without a doubt, the people for whom you went to work abroad have a lot of love for you. They called you back and they did well. I really don’t know what words to say. Maybe just the classic “Don’t worry, everything will be fine, I love you”.

An aura of protection to descend from the Holy Spirit on these people and to protect their health.

I raise and invite other people to lift up to Jesus Christ the energy of these days and the forms that manifest themselves, as each one sees them.

And for anyone who wants and knows what it means let’s say together: I’m sorry. Forgive me. Thank you. I love you.

If I forgot to include a category of people to thank and appreciate in this period, please share this to your friends and write an appreciation, to include them.

How to Better Get Prepared for Studying Abroad Today

We truly live amazing times, now more than ever – we can easily notice this even when looking at how accessible it is for young people to relocate from one country to another for their studies. To this end, studying abroad can be one of the most enriching and thrilling experiences of your entire life. It’s an experience that broadens your horizons, facilitates meeting new people and understanding new cultures, while at the same time helping you develop like never before.

However, if you jump on board this experience without knowing what to expect, you may encounter some struggles that can take away from the blissful feelings brought on by newness. So here’s how you need to prepare and what to expect when traveling abroad.

How to Better Get Prepared for Studying Abroad

1. Choose Wisely, You’re In Charge of Your Future

Since this is so much more than just a weekend getaway and you’ll spend years studying in a completely new country, you’ll need to make an informed decision regarding two aspects. The first one should consider the field of study you’d like to be in for the next years of your life. Would you see yourself continuing a career in that field of work? Is it something you’d actually be passionate about studying? If so, would these classes be acknowledged in your country? The last thing you’d like to go through is to look back and see if you’ve spent your time in vain.

The second aspect you need to do careful research on is the actual country’s culture and how it fits your own personality. Learn about the country’s local traditions, the way its people interact with one another and see if they naturally resonate with your soul‍. By overlooking this aspect, you can easily end up spending your time feeling disconnected, jaded and longing to get home faster.

2. Create a Well-Established Itinerary

If you want to enjoy your new experience from the very first moments, you will need to ensure your itinerary is up-to-date and all your connections are booked from the get-go. Sacrificing a bit of time while you’re still at home means you don’t need to sacrifice time while you’re traveling and you also don’t need to spend the extra cash you could actually put to better use.

Another great way to get around and avoid negative feelings is to actually carry a printed map of the new location with you at all times. This will allow you to not depend on your phone and an internet connection, in case anything doesn’t go according to plan.

3. You Can’t Avoid Homesickness By Studying Abroad

No matter how well prepared you to travel to your new country, homesickness is a universal phenomenon that without a doubt everyone who’s relocated to a new country eventually experiences. This can happen within two months of your stay there or even after the first six months. And when you think you’ve managed these feelings and are getting better, you can start missing home even more than you did the previous time.

So remember how powerful words can be in regards to your well-being and understand that it’s okay to reach out whenever you’re feeling down. Keep an open mind and let yourself assimilate your new environment as it comes to you since the path of least resistance is always the most rewarding in the end. Practice gratitude every day and remember your reason for having chosen this experience in the first place. This is the only way you can create and consolidate a truly positive study environment.

4. Be Prepared for the Differences in the Financial System when studying abroad

When it comes to the financial and administrative tasks of relocation, everyone faces some hurdles in their process and most of the time they’re pretty exhausting. This is why it’s best to contact your bank before leaving the country in order to ensure you can use your card in the new country. You should also find out what fees there are when withdrawing from foreign ATM’s or when paying by card abroad. These small steps can save you from a whirlwind of negative emotions down the road and not mention, a lot of misspent cash.

5. You’ll Discover Yourself and the World

Perhaps this is the most rewarding aspect of them all when it comes to studying abroad. Each person going through this adventure will have different experiences, but one thing is certain. No one returns from studying abroad the same people they were when they began. This is because the entire experience propels you from your comfort zone straight into the unknown and that is the best foundation for self-development. You’ll learn how to live on your own, how to make connections with people that don’t even speak your language, how to get by in a foreign country and how to live without an immediately accessible emotional support system.

All in all, the beauty of studying abroad is that you can never really predict the unpredictable, regardless of how well you prepare for it. However, by following these basic tips, you may find yourself adjusting quicker to your environment and truly enjoying what this new chapter of your life has to offer.

How a Clean House Creates a Clean Mind: Top 5 Tips

When it comes to happiness, everyone always seems to recommend mindfulness, vacations and quality time spent together with your friends. But what happens when you come back to your home and you feel it’s burdening you, rather than freeing your mind? Or what happens when you want to engage in mindful thinking, but the clutter keeps blurring your mind? What is often disregarded when it comes to mental wellbeing is the positive effect that cleaning your house can have on it. Let’s look at a few ways in which you can benefit from maintaining a clean home:

1. Clean Mind Actually Helps Reduce Anxiety and Depression

Cortisol, the hormone stress, tends to decline naturally throughout the day, fencing off negative feelings and fighting off depression. However, by living every second in a cluttered environment, you can prevent this useful process from occurring in the body. This means you will most likely feel mentally clouded, anxious or maybe even guilty for always postponing cleaning.

The only way to combat this is to take action and start breaking down chores into smaller chunks that you can immediately take care of. Get rid of the pile of clothes, clean out your desk and finish that laundry list. Trust me, the gratitude and satisfaction you’ll feel will make you want to pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

2. It Can Help You Eat Healthier

Think about it. If you walk into your kitchen and it’s spotless every time, you won’t consider eating something that’s unhealthy or just for comfort – they just don’t go hand in hand. You’ll want to go the extra mile and choose greener foods, maybe even eco-friendly ones and you’ll probably feel the need to cook these groceries in a way that promotes a healthy lifestyle and generates positive thinking. So declutter your counter, get rid of seldom used appliances and clean out your fridge.

3. Clean Mind Will Help You Become More Productive

By keeping a clean home and integrating a more organized way of being into your lifestyle, you’ll have to do very little every day in order to maintain the cleanliness of your home. By putting your jacket in the coat rack instead of dropping it on the floor or by finding adequate space for a book instead of stacking it in an overcrowded shelf, you can avoid spending tremendous amounts of time restoring your home down the line. Apart from this, living in a spacious, clutter-free space will give your brain the freedom it needs for you to become a happy employee, with lots of vitality and desire to work.

4. Clean Mind Will Help You Sleep Better at Night

It’s already a tale as old as time that people who make their beds in the morning are more productive and happier throughout the day. By transforming this into a habit, those feelings will consolidate in your heart and will get you closer to your goal in the pursuit of happiness. So wash your bed linens and fluff your pillows. In addition to this, stay organized throughout the day, so when the night comes you’ll go to bed feeling rewarded and relaxed, instead of pressed and guilty. This will give you better-quality sleep which in turn will result in a better mood and being more creative.

5. It Can Help Improve Your Relationships

We all know that a relationship is not a one-way street and oftentimes what we put into it is what we receive right back. So it’s only natural that if we put in our stressed selves in the game, the quality of our relationships will dwindle. So this is why cleaning your home pays off in more than one way. Additionally, if you live together with a spouse, disorganization can cost you a lot of the time you could be spending together with them. It’s all connected and once you start realizing this, your life will change for the better.

As you can see, these are only a few ways in which decluttering your home and maintaining it clean can help you have a fluff-free mind. This will add to your feeling more relaxed, productive and happier in your personal and professional life, as well as in relationship to the important people in your life.

Discover How Do Nightmares Make Writers More Creative

The image of a dark shadow following me like Dementors was chasing Harry Potter is still live in my mind. It is a nightmare I started having when I was about 13 and it keeps repeating every now and then. I always manage to run away from that shadow, but it never stops following me. It is a recurrent dream that is chasing me for over 15 years now.

But how do these bad dreams influence creativity? Every human on Earth is having nightmares, but do they have a special effect on writers or on their creativity level? Do these nightmares have a hidden meaning?

Let’s find out more about nightmares and if they make writers more creative.

What Are Nightmares?

Nightmares are those bad dreams which make you wake up during the night. And while the sensation of fear has invalidated your body, you wake up all sweat and disturbed by what you just saw in your dreams.

We experience more nightmares when we are children. Researchers from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine say that from 10 to 50 percent of children aged 5 to 12 years, experience disturbing nightmares that make them wake up their parents.

This means that the severity of their nightmares is high enough to disturb their parents.

As the time passes by, the frequency of the nightmares decreases. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine says that only two to eight percent of adults experience nightmares.

But, What Triggers Nightmares?

Scientists say that the nightmares experienced during adulthood have the same triggers as the ones from childhood. Such triggers could be:

  • Listening to scary stories
  • The death of a beloved one
  • Watching tv shows or horror movies
  • Having a stressful day at school or work

Whether these triggers are common for childhood and adulthood, there are also some that are specific to adulthood.

As we grow up, we gain more and more control over our behavior and cognitive functions. We have the power to control and keep them under control.

But when something bad happens, our ability to manage our behavior and thinking weakens.

Triggers such:

  • Bad eating habits – like having a midnight snack
  • Conflicts unresolved that we never stop thinking about
  • Unknown allergies
  • Depression
  • Trauma
  • Insomnia

can cause you to experience that night troubles.

What do we know about nightmares?

  1. We know that the nightmares are occurring in the REM sleep (rapid eye movement sleep). This phase is unique in our sleep and makes it easy for nightmares to appear because of its characteristics. Our muscles relax, and our eyes move faster, creating the conditions to dream vividly.
  2. Although every one of us has his own opinions, issues and perspective, some themes are common to most adults. Running from someone who is chasing you and not having the power to escape or falling from a very high building are common themes among adults.
  3. If you are on medication, you may experience nightmares, depending on the addictive substances you are taking.

But, how can a writer be inspired by his or her nightmares?

We all know that inspiration does not come if you clap your hands. There are a lot of exercises to boost your creativity. Some of them may work, some not. I tried some and all I can say is that they are helpful.

A lot of writers ask for advice on how to boost their creativity, and all I can say is to dive deeper into your dreams.

I tried to remember all the details of my dreams, some of them being full of feelings and sensations that would make a great story.

My solution to the problem of keeping track of one’s dreams was to write them down on a dream journal. I noticed that after I wake up, I clearly see all the dream details.

And this is the best moment to write down what you have just dreamed.

As the time passes by, more and more details will get lost.

You will boost your creativity and you will have a great start for an awesome story. Your brain is working also during the night, so nightmares are one of the things that he is part of. And why not use your brain at its fullest?

Wait, is this possible? Do I really become more creative?

The answer is, yes. Have you ever wondered where the Frankenstein story came from? Or how was Edgar Allan Poe so inspired to write such horrific, yet awesome stories?

You might think that as a writer you barely have time to sleep because you often enter a writing frenzy state. Stephen King got the idea for his famous masterpiece Misery while flying to London and experiencing a nightmare.

You can also draw what you have just dreamed and get inspired like Robert L. Stevenson did for his The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde novel.

There are so many writers who leveled up their creativity just by paying enough attention to what they experienced during the night. So yes, it is possible to become more creative if you listen to your brain during the night.

In fact, there are lots of studies which investigated the relationship between nightmares and creativity. One study conducted by Michelle Carr proved that during a word-association task, those who experienced nightmares scored significantly better than those who do not.

This means that it is a positive relationship between nightmares and creativity.

You might find yourself too troubled to form sentences and all you can do is to write down some ideas and memories. As a writer, you can always use the help of some nerdy writers or you can hire a writer online who can proofread your drafts.

As a writer, you can get lost through ideas. It is always helpful when a fresh and new perspective is used to improve your drafts. This is the moment when you can ask for help from a professional.

How Useful Are Nightmares to Writers?

After I over analyzed all the studies about nightmares and creativity, an idea popped up. How useful are nightmares for writers, actually? How can I, as a writer, maximize the potential my nightmares have?

Well, these are some tricky questions. But studies helped me clarify some aspects.

Empathya study from 2013 showed that people who experience nightmares frequently, also display mirror behaviors. They tend to be more aware of the people and surroundings.

And it is well-known that there is a positive relationship between empathy and creativity, although we do not know the exact relationship. Nightmares might determine you to write more vivid, fuller of life stories.

The recall rate is high – this might be due to the characteristics of nightmares. It is hardwired in our brain to remember more bad things than good things.

This is especially visible when taking into consideration nightmares. They can be a great source of inspiration for your next horror or thriller story.

I talked a lot about nightmares. What are they, what triggers do they have or how are nightmares and creativity linked.

But, how can you take advantage of nightmares, as a writer?

Oh well, nightmares inspire you. They make you more creative in ways you wouldn’t have known were possible. The truth is, our brain is working all the time. And just a few of the things it is noticing reach the consciousness level. You must take advantage of them.

Write down as many details you remember. Or, if you have some hidden talents, you can draw or paint. The thing is, while you will be working on remembering as many details as possible, your creativity level will increase.

Your brain will be exercising, and your imagination will be unleashed. So, what are you waiting for? Start that dream journal and begin creating the most vivid and gripping stories you have ever written.

3. Illustrative case studies

This is a form of descriptive learning that uses one or more occurrences of an event to demonstrate the situation at hand. The aim is to give the readers an in-depth common idea about the topic being treated. When writing such a case study, the idea is to have whoever reads it inclined to the common understanding of the topic.

Most times, these studies are very objective such that they do not require a lot of interpretation. They rarely involve humans because when it does several variables come into play concerning that subject matter.

4. Exploratory or pilot case studies

This is a summarized method done before executing a full-scale investigation. The main reason for this type of study is to assist in classifying questions and choose measurement parameters before the actual investigation. Usually, the goal is to show that more investigations will be required and considered necessary. It is very popular in psychological fields.  For example, some psychologists may decide to do a study of troupers that come home after active combat. Although the end goal is to identify the causes of PTSD, however at the very beginning attention may be put on the veterans themselves to establish PTSD.

Society Offers Learning Opportunities With Online Platforms

Nowadays, future specialists must possess not only the basic theoretical skills and be competent in the chosen professional activity, but also have a high level of development of mobility. Therefore, the training of specialists in different fields should be based on the use of active teaching methods, which will allow students to master the material at the level of their cognitive activity.

We live in a time when there are a lot of learning opportunities, and students can easily choose the most appropriate one for themselves. They can try learning online, order essay on one essay site, take part in an exchange program etc. If talking about writing, there are a lot of sources where you can find free essays https://studymoose.com/. It is extremely convenient when everything needed is available in one place, but not less important is to find desire and motivation to study, and how to manage to do this?

What is an online platform, and why is it needed?

One of the ways of learning is an online platform. Using the online platform implies the ability to create any course in accordance with the goals and professional interests of the student. At any stage of training, the course can be changed/supplemented in accordance with the student’s academic performance. So, if the teacher and the methodologist understand that the student has learned certain material before the planned date, they can pick up new content without spending time on the already studied. In ordinary schools, this principle is partly realized only in the case of working with corporate clients, when an ordinary course adapts to the company’s goals (special vocabulary is added, descriptive words are removed, which is one of the best student development opportunities).

The online platform allows you to save and view video lessons. On the one hand, this gives the student the opportunity to return to the material studied and repeat the study, and on the other hand, the methodologist can look at the teacher’s work and give him recommendations on the work or adjust the course. In addition to the video, the platform provides a very detailed analysis of the student’s progress: the time of his speaking in class, the speed of reaction, the rate of speech, the psycho-emotional state at the time of speech, the growth of his skills in various aspects of the language and much more.

Modern innovations in education

Innovative technologies in education make it possible to regulate education, to direct it in the right direction. People were always intimidated by all that was unknown and new, they were negative about any changes. Stereotypes that exist in the mass consciousness, affecting the usual way of life, lead to painful phenomena, prevent the renewal of all types of training. The reason for the reluctance of people to take innovations in modern education lies in blocking vital needs for comfort, safety, and self-assertion. Not everyone is ready for the need to re-learn the theory, pass exams, change their minds, spend personal time and money on it.

But innovations are really important in education, students had more troubles in the past without the help of the internet. Nowadays teenagers cannot imagine how it is to be unable to find essays online, to ask for help with essays term papers, essays research papers, to order essay online. They are not used to going to the library and search for needed information there, so with the help of innovations the next generation would be able to deal with something even more convenient and interesting than internet resources.

In innovative education, the management of the educational process is organized in such a way that the teacher plays the role of a tutor (mentor). In addition to the classic version, the student can choose distance learning, saving time, money. The position of students regarding the option of learning is changing, they are increasingly choosing non-traditional types of knowledge acquisition.

Exchange programs for students

The exchange program for students and specialists of different ages provides a unique chance to make the learning process interesting and profitable. The main goal of educational programs is to increase their knowledge, improve language skills, gain invaluable experience and gain a large number of positive emotions.

Cultural exchange for students and pupils. The main objective of this type of program is to get acquainted with the culture of the country and to overcome the language barrier. Here, earnings act as an instrument of immersion in the national flavor and communication with people.

Internship abroad. This program provides for the acquisition of important knowledge and valuable skills in their field. Of course, during the course of work, the intern is paid a salary. These programs are suitable for senior students and beginner specialists who want to gain invaluable knowledge and practical experience.

How to Ease the Stress of College: Brief Guide for Freshmen

Let’s be clear: stresses and anxiety are unavoidable and are an important part of anyone’s life. One cannot get rid of them entirely. Moreover, the necessity to overcome anxiety can become another stress, as you’re supposed to be good at dealing with it. But anxiety and stresses are not only about psychological health. They also affect your grades. Here are some easy rules you can follow to eliminate the influence of anxiety on your studying and ease the stress of college.

1.  Eat well

This is the most obvious and the most underestimated piece of advice. What you eat affects your grades on a direct basis. Compose at least 80% of your diet with minimally processed healthy food, and indulge yourself with no more than 20% of junk food. Avoid relaxing with alcohol as well, especially if you’re an addictive type of person.

2.  Get enough sleep

You must have seen it out on your own: bad sleep the night before leads to the lack of productivity the next day. Coffee and energy drinks are lifesavers if you take them from time to time, but if you can help it, it is better to opt for a good 8-hour night of sleep.

3.  Socialize

Studies show that socializing helps eliminate the symptoms of depression and anxiety. It can be difficult for you to make new friends if you have social anxiety or are an introverted type of person. To make socializing easier, check out the fraternities on your campus and try some sports. Scan the hobby groups in your college and involve yourself in some of them. Get along with your roommate. Speak to people in classes. And don’t forget about your family.

4.  Don’t procrastinate

It is easier to overcome a bad grade if you know you’ve done everything you could. In this case, the only things you have to blame are the circumstances and your teacher, who does not like you too much. If you were deliberately postponing your homework and haven’t done everything you could to make it better, the only person to blame is you. Self-blame is one of the reasons for having major depressive disorder some studies say.

5.  Ask for help

Find some legitimate research paper writing service and use it when you need it. Stress from getting a bad grade or any assignment you’re unable to cope with on time is one of the most common happenings among college students. Remember that there is always a way out and there are always people who are willing to help. Just ask for it.

6.  Write down your expenditures

Money can be another stressful factor for freshmen. If you’re not willing to take a part-time job yet, opt for controlling your spending. We assure you that after several weeks of writing your expenditures down or using budget planning and tracking mobile apps, you will be shocked by how much money you pay for nonsense.

7.  Help others

Doing good makes you feel good, and some even say that the secret to happiness is helping others. There is always a chance to help those in need — if not with your money then with your time and devotion. Maybe there are some subjects you can assist your classmates with. Speak to students for whom English is not a native language. You will both improve their English and you will find out a lot about foreign cultures.

8.  Take time out for yourself

It might seem that every minute of life in college is written down, but there is always a couple of hours a day you can devote to yourself—just search better. A day in a spa would be perfect, but a simple walk in a park also will do. Read or dream instead of scrolling through your Instagram timeline when you’re already in bed. Christmas holidays with your family and summers vacation in Europe also count.

9.  Think about the future

It is not as easy as the rest of the list, but someone has to do it and it better to be you. We encourage you not to overthink stuff, like “Did I choose the best college?” or “What should I do if I fail my exams?” but analyze what you want and how you can get there. Create a pool of if-then plans in your mind and it will be easier for you to face the future.

Sorry to say that again, but one’s college years are really one of the brightest periods of your life. Enjoy it and don’t let anxiety and stresses take away all the opportunities life gives you now.

  • Do an exercise associated with words and use the word stress

Other stress relieving method

It is worth noting that writing a journal is not an end and a fix for many patients suffering from mental issues as well as PTSD. There are some people who will not love writing. If you are finding it difficult to keep a diary, there are other methods you can use to relieve your stress like:

  • Sharing your thoughts with a close friend, relative or teacher
  • Getting an online support group
  • Singing it out
  • Painting or drawing
  • Speaking with mental health professionals, like the ones at BetterHelp

Conclusion

People respond to stress differently. There are those who prefer to drink alcohol, cut themselves or even eat junk food. Instead of engaging in such destructive behaviours, why don’t you try writing as a stress reliever?

1. Pick a Comfy Place

Before beginning with your studies, try to pick a space best suited to your current mood. Pick a place in your surroundings where you find yourself at calm and peace. You will not gain anything from studying hard while your brain is thinking about something else. If you like studying in night time and want to burn midnight oil literally, then opt for a desk and chair rather than your bed as it will make you more attentive and sharper while studying your subjects.

2. Clear Up Your Working Space

Always try to keep your working space in an organized and a structured manner. Clean up all the mess from your desk and keep only the necessary things you need while studying your subjects. If you will start studying in an untidy surrounding, you will end up creating unwanted nuisances for yourself.

3. Stock-up Your Study Ammunition

Once you have picked a place to study, stock up your place or surroundings with all the essential and necessary things you will need while studying. As an army soldier equips all the supplies before going to a battle, you should gather all your necessary things like pencils, pens, guides etc. at your place before starting with your subjects. Then will not only increase your focus in your studies but will save you a lot of your valuable time which would have been wasted in going here and there to gather the things causing an unwanted disturbance in your flow.

4. Get The Lights In Tune

Make sure that the place is well lit and illuminated with proper lights. It fills your surroundings with optimism and enation and keeps you motivated. It reduces the strain and stress on your eyes preventing you from headaches.

5. No Social Media During Study

Get a break from all the social media platforms when you begin with your studies. Keep your mobile at an arm’s length and concentrate on your subjects. Clear up your mind from all the distractions and aim at concentrating your mind and core only in your studies especially in case you have to complete your academic essay writing.

6. Acquire Online Help

Not everyone is an expert in every subject. There is always a room of improvement while you are studying a general subject or completing your specific academic assignments. You can always find assistance online while you are dealing with a different task like writing, complex numeric questions, understanding typical keywords and many more. Websites like PaperDoers, topassignmentexpert, EssayWriter4U  etc. provide full support and assistance to you in your queries regarding your subjects. Moreover, they serve their purpose well and are regarded as the best online assignment help that students opt while completing assignments.

7. Set a clock at Your Study Place

Always keep a check on the time while you study. Set different time periods for    different subjects and follow your plan accordingly. Include some gaps between your sessions of work. Include some nap time and if you love to listen to music then go for it in the gaps you have planned. Music will not only refresh and relax your mind and body but will vanish all the dullness and boredom in your surroundings and will boost your mind for your upcoming session of work or your task.

Now try to follow these tips and inculcate them in your daily routine and you will find yourself more boosted and motivated when you next begin with your studies.

Students Depression: 5 Ways to Encourage Positive Thinking

Nearly every person on the planet experiences a depressing episode at least once in their lives. Sadly, in many cases, this happens exactly during one’s student years. Many factors contribute to this, from the hormonal cocktail of puberty to outright unrealistic expectations the world seems to heap upon one’s shoulders. It really is no wonder that suicide is the second leading cause of death among students (ADAA) or that 1in 5 college students suffer from anxiety or depression (TheConversation). In fact, real numbers can be higher, and we’ll never know because the majority of those suffering do not seek help.

It’s overwhelming to be so stressed with assignments, removed from home and support, and anxious about social and financial issues. That’s how many students are these days, and they have no one but themselves to rely on for getting through this.

Of course, it would be best to seek help, guidance, and counseling. But let’s be real, few people have the means and willpower to do this, especially when they are already struggling with a depressive episode. Thus, you have to use self-healing methods to fight theworst of it off. Positive thinking is one of those methods, and there’s research toprove its efficiency. The trick is to learn how to use and reinforce it whendefault thoughts in your head are far from positive.

5 Ideas on How to Nurture Positive Thinking within Yourself

1.     Assume the best. Forcibly if you have to

One of the greatest dangers of depression is how one absolutely innocent thing can drag you down a devolving spiral of dark negative thoughts. For example, you get a new assignment and five minutes later you become a trembling ball of anxiety and the only thought in your head is that you don’t have it in you to succeed.

Does that sound familiar?

Forcing you to assume the worst is what depression does, so you have to intentionally redirect those thoughts. Every time you get that kind of feeling, you need to stop yourself and play a game of positives. Go like this, you get a new complex assignment and next, you tell yourself ‘I can do it, I know which books I need, I have done similar things before, I have the power to succeed’. And even if you don’t really believe it yet in your heart of hearts, repeating those affirmations to yourself will help you get there.

2.     Provide yourself with positive visuals

As a student, you should know that images have a great power. In fact, it will be a part of your program to learn ways to visualize your data. That’s necessary for making your academic papers more comprehensible and authoritative. And you can apply the same methods of visualization in your quest of encouraging your brain to think positive.

Of course, you can simply stare at some specific images when repeating positive affirmations to yourself. Accompanying information with a picture makes the human brain memorize it better, as proves research. However, to beat depression, you need something more powerful. Instead, you should create charts, diagrams, and videos that will commemorate positive moments in your life and show your progress toward your goals.

Making these visuals personal will help you remember the good times and enhance your inner optimist, who is sleeping due to the depression. And working on them will take your mind off negative thoughts as you’ll be focused on a task. Visualization tools you use for your academic work will ensure that you create those ‘positive thinking aids’ fast, so your study schedule won’t be affected.

3.     Make an effort to surround yourself with positivity

Do you know what doesn’t help fighting depression? Toxic environment and people, both of which contribute to this mental disorder. There are studies to prove it. But what you need to take from them is that your environment has the power to affect your mental health. Therefore, you can use it to achieve the opposite effect.

Surrounding yourself with positive people and hanging out in places with a good and welcoming atmosphere will do this. Start with your favorite café and then look at various clubs and societies they have on campus.

4.      Become a philanthropist

A great way to promote positive thinking within yourself is seeing the happiness on other people’s faces and knowing you put it there. So, when you feel depressed, go out to your local shelter and volunteer to help out. Or participate in some community programs. Or find some other way to give to other people.

At the very least, you should go to the nearest support group and share your story. Not only will that help you, but seeing that you are making progress in battling your demons will inspire others in the same position.

5.      Turn bad situations into learning experiences

Positive thinking cannot prevent you from making mistakes or experiencing something bad. However, that’s when you need to apply logic.

Yes, something went wrong, but here you are. You survived, and now you can look back, learn from the experience, and be stronger for it!

However, if you don’t follow this advice, you should explain to your professor why you were not able to complete the assignment on schedule. In this case, it’s better to say that you had problems with your health, which didn’t allow you to study effectively.

  1. You had a sharp headache\stomachache\toothache.
  2. Now you are taking new pills, which provoke weakness, drowse, and sickness.
  3. You had food poisoning.
  4. You injured your arm, leg or back because of the ice-crusted ground (if you hurt your leg, don’t forget to walk with a hobble).
  5. You had a fever.

Final Thoughts For Excuses For Being Late To School

You can have a lot of real reasons to be late for college or school almost every day, but still, you should try to be a punctual person. If you respect the time of your professor and of your peers, you shouldn’t distract them from the learning process by entering a class in the middle of the lecture.

You are welcome to utilize these believable excuses when you really need them. However, you shouldn’t use them too often, if you don’t want to lose trust in a relationship.

Best 9 Productivity Hacks For Procrastinators To Act Now

Procrastination is a habit of postponing your obligations without an apparent reason. This type of behavior includes everything from getting up from the bed to meeting a job deadline. Once a person sinks deep into procrastinating they may experience difficulties with getting back on the track. Although procrastination has some upsides like not rushing into decisions and actions, it’s important to learn how to avoid getting into trouble.

There is a common misconception that procrastination leads directly to lower productivity. This sort of claim, however, is not entirely true. Although it’s not advisable to postpone your work and leave for tomorrow what you can finish today, people don’t just stare at the wall, doing nothing. While work is on hold, one might do some online shopping, pay the bills, clean up the house a bit, etc. When you put everything on paper, this could count like fairly productive time.  Additionally, writers often take time before they start working on a project. While the deadline keeps closing in, a writer’s mind keeps working on ways to finish the project. When that “last minute” hits, the writer would sit down and become more efficient.

Case study service editor Miranda Black states: “I always prepare for work by cleaning up around my desk because it keeps my mind free and more creative. When the time comes, my mind is already prepared to execute the task.” This actually means that procrastination is not the opposite of productivity, to say the least, it helps a person become more productive if you follow some simple rules.

 1. Don’t snooze

We already mentioned waking up as one of the issues that procrastinators really have trouble dealing with. In most cases, they would hit the snooze button endlessly until the last minute, and not too seldom until they’re already late. There is an easy trick that might help you cope with this kind of problem.

  • Set the most annoying alarm sound you can think of. This could be a song you don’t like or a high-pitch sound that’s difficult to listen for longer than ten seconds.
  • Don’t put your phone or alarm clock near to you. This way you will have to get out of the bed in order to stop the alarm ringing. Once you get up from your bed it’s unlikely that you’ll go back.

In addition, you can set more alarms so if you manage to ignore the first one, the others will make you jump out and seize the day.

2. Create a schedule

Break your day into actionable segments. Make every moment of your time count by setting up deadlines for each part of the day. However, don’t forget to add some free time, it will help you to juice up and continue with your work. Pauses are excellent productivity boosters.

3. Move your deadline ahead

This practice allows you to start earlier with your work, even if you wait for that last minute bell. The fact that you know you still have the time to finish the project will simply keep you relaxed, therefore you won’t rush or do something wrong because you were too hasty.

4. Keep your phone as far as possible

Although there are hundreds of productivity apps and time trackers, phones are the easiest way to lose track of time. What starts with answering a simple message could result in hours lost on social networks, funny videos, etc. Leave the phone aside and answer only to important phone calls.

5. Carrot and a stick

We all like gifts, no matter who is presenting us with the prize. Therefore, rewarding yourself for a job well done is a great way to motivate yourself to work. For example, you can set up different awards for various milestones.

6. Get out of the house

It’s easy to stagnate when you’re inside. Getting comfy on your sofa while watching your favorite show is the easiest way to forget you have work to do. If you feel bad about delaying your work but you just can’t get enough focus to start working, it’s best to get out and take a walk. The fresh air will do you good, oxygen will pump up your brain and give you the energy to start working.

7. Use notes

Write down your obligations and put them in places where you spend the most of your time. If you go to the fridge and you see a large note saying “Clean up the pool” it should make you go out and finish this daunting task momentarily.

8. Wake up earlier

If you feel that you need more time to finish all your work, consider waking up earlier. It will give you a few extra hours that you might need in order to finish your tasks and have enough time to procrastinate as well.

9. Cut corners where you can

Most procrastinators are perfectionists. They don’t start working until they’re absolutely sure they will put out the best results and finish everything perfect up to a fault. Try and become just a bit looser when it comes to working. Work until it’s done, not until it’s perfect.

Conclusion

As we can see, procrastination is not the end of the world. However, it makes you waste a whole lot of time. We human beings can get back most of the things that we lose, time is not one of them. Once lost time is forever lost. Use your time wisely.

Lemons Into Lemonade: Turn Negative Events Into Positive Expression

The fact is, many of us rely on creating to express our emotions. All of us on are especially familiar with this process. Creating to express our emotions in any form has potential to be a healthy and life-giving experience.

We can use art and creative writing as a means to turn our negative feelings into a reckoning for positivity. Here are some thoughts about negative experiences and how we can write them into a corner when they try to bully us.

The Dangers of Holding in Our Pain

Our culture glorifies the idea of holding in your emotions. Men are often called weak for being expressive, and women are called crazy for expressing their emotions in any way. Neither of these is fair, as emotions are simply a part of the human experience, and there’s nothing weak about admitting to what you feel.

Here’s the fact: suicide rates are on the rise. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the suicide rate in the United States increased 24 percent from 1999 to 2014. The amount of adolescents — and we are talking early adolescents — that contemplate ending their lives or do end their lives as a result of cyberbullying has increased as well. In a recent UK study, 26 percent of respondents had suicidal thoughts, as a result of cyberbullying.

We have to normalize emotions and offer people practical ways to handle their trials in life. Even social work professionals admit we need to start thinking out of the box. I propose one of the best outlets for pain is through creative writing.

Write It Off

There is something so satisfying about forming the perfect sentence to describe what you’re going through. As long as you’re doing it for you and not to impress others, I think being able to work hard on this transfer from mind to paper is therapeutic. By writing about your negative experiences, you can process them, and learn from them. If you’re comfortable with it — share and relate it to others.

Here are some suggestions to turn your negative experiences into lemonade, through the power of writing.

Poetry Exercises

Poetry, lyric writing, and the like are the best places to employ your artistic license, due to the common “show don’t tell” mentality that’s so popularized in these communities. I personally find it useful to use poetry prompts in order to challenge yourself. The point of doing these exercises is to force you to write down your thoughts in a different way than just “I feel sad” or “I am angry.” You also are usually writing less — but it’s harder to get a good flow going. It’s a new form of expression for a lot of freelance writers and similar creatives and can influence your other writings as well.

Descriptive Nonfiction

This is something I struggled with originally due to my past writing song lyrics with metaphors. I had to drop all of that — which I now consider being mostly fluff — and switch to describing the actual scenes around me. Descriptive nonfiction lives in “show don’t tell,” more strictly than poetry does.

Retell your story. Use color, shape, and other physical descriptions. How red was your face from embarrassment or hurt? What were other people doing? How they moved, their facial expressions, and how did their face change and move as well? What words were they using? Of course, “show don’t tell” can also make for a traumatic retelling of a hard time, so gauge yourself and see if you can handle it first.

Letters to Yourself

Years ago, during one of my first breakups, I found myself writing letters late before bed. These letters were addressed to me, oddly enough. I never called it journaling or felt like I was writing a diary. I was very clearly writing a letter. Even though I was the recipient of these letters.

Physically writing my thoughts down on paper felt like I was transferring my emotions — like they were physically leaving my body. This was one of my initial experiences with the therapeutic effects of writing, and since then I’ve used writing to help myself through other breakups, loss of friends and family, and stressful life events.

Freewriting

It has been said that “bad writing is good for you,” and this may certainly be the case in your situation. Freewriting offers the comfort of no restrictions – just straight up word vomit until you need to eat again.

Some find this to be a positive and freeing experience. It offers them a way to put some elbow grease into releasing their emotions, but they don’t have to worry about anything else. This isn’t typically the writing you show people, but certainly, you can if you would like. It’s your lemonade.

Get a Little Abstract

Use weird prompts and exercises — and by “weird” I mean unusual to you — to stretch your writing and give you new ways to express yourself. The thing with writing prompts is that they work like writing games. You have to use them to finish a piece based on rules and restrictions you don’t typically adhere to. Some of the most satisfying pieces of writing I’ve done have been based on odd prompts, and it always feels like a new way to express my thoughts, feelings, and beliefs.

How To Encourage Others

As I mentioned earlier, we need to normalize negative emotions. Make them something to talk about, and make it usual to talk about them. Let’s innovate a bit and give struggling people healthy and positive ways to handle their pain.

We must live by example first, because telling people to talk about their issues doesn’t shut out the voices — external or internal — that make them feel uncomfortable doing so. Being encouraging and transparent, ourselves, can do that.

Now, how much more as a writer can we share our experiences tangibly, especially with other writers? We all struggle with life, so writing them down for others may actually give them something to lean on, and maybe vice versa. Make your own lemonade from life’s hardships.

Ultimately, transparency begets transparency

With that in mind, let’s strive for honesty and humility with each other, so we can destigmatize depression, formulate it into something positive, be it through writing or whatever other form of creation you choose, and gain something from it rather than lose everything to it.

How have you used writing or creativity to cope with bad experiences? Let me know in the comments below!

Lemons Into Lemonade: How to Turn Negative Events into Positive Expression

Link Between Sleep And Grades: How Can We Benefit Now

Yes, there is. If you want to improve your academic performance in college, make sure you are getting enough sleep. According to a recent study by the Douglas Mental Health University Institute and McGill University in Montreal, students who get enough sleep score better in languages and math.

This is not the only study that backs this claim. Several medical and scientific studies link sleep and grades. In another scientific study published in 2017, it was revealed that college students with a consistent sleep schedule are more likely to secure higher grades compared to those who do not follow a strict sleep schedule.

These studies reveal that not only having enough sleep is vital for students, but it is also necessary to follow a strict sleep schedule. As a student, you have to make sure that you are going to bed and waking up at a consistent time.

Why is Sleep so Important for Higher Grades?

With advanced scientific research, it is now common knowledge that the quality of sleep has an impact on our lifestyle, work productivity, and our ability to learn. Sleep quality plays a major role in improving memory, language learning, problem-solving skills, executive functions, and the ability to learn complex concepts.

There is more to the link between sleep and grades. You also need to understand there is a difference between “long sleep” and “quality sleep”, both having different effects. The studies show that long sleep is related to the improvement of academic results, while quality or deep sleep is linked with overall cognitive performance.

Make sure to not only sleep for 8-9 hours but also ensure you are sleeping in an environment that allows uninterrupted sleep.

The Challenge for College Students

The issue here is – college and university life is not easy for students. Most students not only attend college but also work in their spare time to meet their expenses. Moreover, they also have to make time to prepare for their examinations and to prepare assignments.

In most cases, the tough daily routine makes it almost impossible for students to have enough sleep. In the United States, college students on average get 6 hours of sleep per night, while most remain sleep-deprived throughout their college years, resulting in poor grades.

According to health experts, a college student must have 8 hours of quality sleep. Lack of sleep does not only impact grades, but also overall health, both physical and psychological.

What is the Solution for Students?

The best way to ensure enough sleep is to bring balance to your life. While it is a fact that life for students is tough, especially for those who also work while studying, but there are ways you can manage your time more effectively.

  • Finding Jobs that are Easier and Allows Multitasking

Commuting between college and the workplace often consumes a lot of time. The easier solution is to find online jobs that can be done by students. There are a lot of opportunities available online that allows students to work from their home.

For example, students can work as virtual assistants, email support, customer support, online chat, bloggers, essay writers, data entry specialists, web researchers, etc.

All these jobs not only save you time, as you can perform these jobs online from your room but also allows you to study at the same time. For example, if you are working as a virtual assistant, you can easily switch between your study and your work.

You can increase your sleep hours as you don’t have to travel between your work and college anymore.

  • Delegate More

Most students stay up late in the night just to complete their essay writing and other assignments. To counter this, many seek help.

Do you know that more than 20,000 university students in the UK use essay writing services? It is a great way to get some more time to sleep and have less stress.

  • Limit Your Nightlife

If you are spending too much time with your friends and staying late at night just to party, it is time to limit it at least for college years. As a student, you need a good night’s sleep. Limit the nightlife to weekends only.

In addition, you also need to limit the consumption of energy drinks, coffee, and other sugary beverages that have a negative impact on your sleep. Similarly, limit the use of the computer or mobile devices, especially in the nighttime. Exposure to the blue light emitting from digital screens severely affects the quality of our sleep and causes sleeplessness.

Conclusion

Every student has one goal, to achieve higher grades, but if you are not having enough sleep, it often becomes impossible. Many students don’t realize that there is a strong link between sleep and grades. It is now a scientific fact. So make sure to set your priorities right, manage your lifestyle, and make sure to have enough time to sleep for at least 8 hours each night.

Harnessing the Power of Words: 8 Inspiring Affirmations

I love words! I love reading words. I love writing words. I love studying words.  I love words by themselves when they make funny sounds like, “plop,” “sizzle,” or “catamaran.” But what I love about words the most is that they can describe ideas that are bigger than what I am able to perceive in my 3-dimensional reality – harnessing the power of words.

I can read words to describe the things I CAN see, but can’t explain, like gravity or photosynthesis. And there are the words that describe things I CAN’T see like quantum physics, God, and the meaning of life. Words can also describe something I may never see in this 3D reality. I may never see a flying unicorn pooping rainbows in the clouds, but there are words to create that image, as I just did. Therefore, in my mind, the unicorn exists.

And there lies my fascination with words: endless possibilities

In the world of words, anything can happen. From the tiniest who in Whoville to the ever-expanding infinite source of all-that-is, and everything in between, all can be explained with words. (Except for the “ineffable.”) And so for the last few years, I was absorbed in a world of words.

Reading, writing, and listening to words all day, I got lost in the world of ideas and stories. Some stories were so inspiring that I beat myself up for not being “that hero” myself. Other stories were just so fun to imagine, I lost touch with reality. Either way, I lived in my head, and neglected the “real world.” I forgot there is life outside of words. I forgot I had a body, and I gained a novel’s worth of weight. I finally realized it was time to reclaim my life in “reality”.

So, I dragged my sedentary butt to a yoga studio

I didn’t realize how far I had let my body fall off the radar,  but I was stiff and creaky. I begrudged all the things my body couldn’t do in class. Then one day I had a teacher who spoke my language.  She instructed us on how to do the “tree” pose. We faced a window that overlooked a pond, and we were guided to pick a tree to gaze at.

“Be the tree,” she said, as we stood on one foot. There was something romantic about the idea of becoming the tree, and I felt like I had made a long-lost connection with an old friend. I was a tree, and the tree was me. And like photosynthesis, I transformed that idea into energy.

In another session, the instructor was trying to get us to pull our shoulders back, but instead of saying pull your “shoulders back,” she said, “squeeze your wing-blades.” My heart instantly took flight.  Shoulder blades are shoulder blades, but unicorn wings, (or angel wings) are magical! I had never thought of my body as magical before.

Suddenly, being aware of my body was fun!

I imagined myself flying over hill and vale suspended by my “wing” blades. There was something heroic in that image. It instantly reminded me of riding my bike as a kid, when I pretended I was riding a horse through a sun-kissed savannah. And here I was as an adult on my hands and knees envisioning myself as a unicorn. Eventually, I learned to play with other ideas inspired by poses, such as warrior and happy baby.

What I learned is that the thing about words, is they are just the “carrier of meaning.” They are not the thing itself. As Alan Watts said, “the menu is not the meal.” You can’t drink the word, “coffee.” But you can use the word “coffee” to order a cup of coffee that you CAN drink. And if you are at certain coffee shops, you can even order a unicorn coffee drink.

And then I remembered reading various spiritual texts that talked about speaking words to create things into existence. Both the Bible and Vedic texts have phrases that say, “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God (Brahman), and the word was God (Brahman).” And of course, Genesis states, “God SAID let there be light.”

Through speech, the word became flesh

And that is how I realized a fun way to use words to embody a magical life. So here is a way that I’ve been playing with words to speak the reality I want to live in my existence.

Pick some powerful words that you want to feel, and speak them. Let your body be the bookmark. Overlay the sparkly feeling of the word you want to embody in everything you do. Speak the words, and feel the meaning in your body. Here are some examples:

“Shake it off.”  shake off feelings of resentment, self-doubt, or any other bugger. Literally, shake your body and envision yourself sloughing off that old skin.

“Jump for joy!”

Literally, jump, and feel the joy. Speak the word, jump, and feel the joy!

“Reach for the stars”

This reminds me of the closing statement of Casey Kasem, but stretch your arms to the sky and imagine reaching for the stars. What star do you want to pull from the sky? Put a power word in the star, and put it in your pocket. It will always be there.

“Grow / Expand”

Take a deep breath and envision your lungs as well as your awareness growing and expanding. Let your awareness expand beyond your body as you fill your lungs with everything around you, including the breath of trees and the gas of stars.

“Leap to new heights”

Take the leap… take some leaps in your house, and envision the thing you want in life that you are leaping towards.

“Love” Love yourself

How do you love yourself? Treat yourself to a sensory experience. Love the tea you drink. Love the bath. The power of touch has been proven to release oxytocin and create a sense of calm. Try gently brushing your fingers on the inside of your forearms, and send love to yourself. Feel the tingly sensations. It is love.

“Tall and Light (and light)”

These are the words I use to correct my posture. I imagine myself tall like a tree grounded in the earth, and light like a feather suspended from heaven. The point is to sense the “space” — that quantum airiness— between the vertebra and stand tall. Do not be weighted by gravity, but light on feet. Be confident and also be a light in the darkness. Be a beacon of light.

“Be a pineapple”

I had to throw this in for my daughter who loves pineapples: The saying goes, “Stand tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside.”  All that metaphorical goodness contained in a tropical fruit!

And my favorite: “Sparkle!”

In everything I do, I try to imagine “sparkle.” Sometimes I incorporate into my breathing exercise envisioning sparkly light filling up my body with glitter. Sometimes I look for “sparkle” when I wash dishes and the sunlight catches the suds and sparkles. Be the sparkle, or find the sparkle.  But if you focus on sparkle, find a way to embody or discover sparkliness in your life.

The opportunities to link fun words and images into your day-to-day living will give you a fresh new way to live in your world. (And help keep your mind from wandering into the bad neighborhoods of self-doubt and negativity.) You can use the words to imbue magic with everything you do. What other fun words can you speak into existence?

10 Tips On How To Turn A Bad Day To A Good One Today

The issue of having a lame day is a kind of a widely spread illness all of us face from time to time. Yes, if it makes you feel any better, it’s true, people of all ages and status are susceptible to “a bad day” syndrome. What’s worse, you cannot predict or postpone it. You just get up, start your daily routine, but some little thing already implies: “It will be one of those bad days.”

Then, you come across another failure, and one more, and then it’s already a whole set of misfortunes. Thus, until midday, you’ve got a chain of things you would prefer never to happen or to happen differently. You feel lack of strength to resist that and simply wish for that day to finally end. But this is not the best you can do! “A rough day” is a tiresome pastime demanding efforts, but you can easily turn it into a good one using little tricky tips. You’ll be surprised to find out that it is the little things that actually help you get rid of the “sick and tired of always being sick and tired” mood. Add one more sunny day to your still bank of happy moments!

Cross out some of your daily tasks

When you are stressed because of your tight schedule, be it due to work, study, or household chores, you find yourself perplexed due to a “bad day at work syndrome” more often. The trouble is that in the majority of cases, we do not have any spare minute for relaxation when we badly need it. Such tension can become unbearable if you do not take any action. I know that it’s not that easy, but do your best to look for some options.

There is always at least one of them which demands to take some steps you would choose to avoid. If the reason is your overload at work, have a word with your Department Head about your duties and working hours and imply time management. The job shouldn’t drain you! If studying leaves no space for other spheres, you can also redirect some part of your tasks to online helpers to get a useful custom essay. Don’t just shift or mix the values! And this is just the first hint in the set of tips for the busy one on how to have a good day.

Curative music

Listening to music is not just an ear-pleasing pastime but one of the means capable of restoring your inner strength, filling you with positive energy on the mental level. Provided your choice of the tune is correct, you can easily cure yourself from a “rough day syndrome” so you are gonna have a good day. The classics, Mozart in particular, is known to have the best influence. Professionals use such music to help their clients recover from clinical depression.

If you are all for classics, then it’s your secret elixir for effeteness; if not – you can choose the tunes which inspire you personally. To be able to take actions immediately when you realize that the bad day has come, you need to create a collection of such tunes beforehand. Proper songs can and will bring peace to your mind.

Singing therapy

For those who are always in a hurry, there is no place for indolent thumb-twiddling. If you have hundreds of daily tasks, you badly need to know how to jazz your life or relax in one minute. Magic shower

The power of water is often underestimated! Just close your eyes in the shower and simply enjoy the water running on your body. Concentrate on your feelings, maybe use some shower gel with a very pleasant smell to help you unveil your positive emotions. Having washed out your negative energy, you activate your nerve endings to feel more energetic and serene. Make your happy hormones celebrate!

Time with the one you love

  • Call your close person. Surely, you have some people whom you trust and who will eagerly listen to your troubles to help you recover. Call them. This is simple! We tend to omit such little pleasures in the daily routine consisting of “you must” and “you have to” affairs. Sometimes hearing no more than “Oh, dear, it’s just a bad day” phrase is all you need to be able to look at this situation differently and avoid a depressing mood.
  • Pastime with a pet. Communication with an animal can just as well cure you of your bad day. Having come home exhausted and sad, spend 15 minutes with your little puppy, kitten, or cute guinea pig to have your oxytocin, serotonin, and prolactin produced in your body. Such interactions will quickly improve your mood.
  • How much time do you need to hug your mother, better half, or your children before going to work/university or after it? You are planning to have a good day, don’t you? It can bring the level of your stress hormones down! Have your 30 seconds of hugging to start a good day or reduce the tension of a bad one with such simple action.
  • Favors for a close person. We tend to omit numerous chances to make the day of people we love a little better, while the opportunities are multiple. Buy your mother her favorite pie or give your wife a relaxing massage, and you will feel how pleasant the feedback is. Your wife’s smile can unexpectedly dye your whole bad day in bright colors. Try today!

You will feel the effect! Having improved your body flow this way, you will get your portion of endorphins, the strength to withstand the difficulties and enjoy the day after all.

Laughing break

Even if you don’t feel like laughing at all, you should try this approach. Just have a look at some funny video from YouTube: first, you’ll need to make efforts to pay attention to the video instead of your troubles, but in a few moments, you’ll start melting. Even the grumpiest smile a little after a while. Try to cheer yourself up with the help of funny or cute things.

“Yellow Submarine“

The color of optimism, yellow can help you recover from a rough day or prevent the undesirable outcome: switch to the positive side by wearing something yellow. Just don’t run to extremes! Overemphasizing yellow, you can get the opposite result.

Give compliments

There is no good in concentrating on pity instances in our life, for this never helps to find a worthy solution. Shifting the focus to the positive aspects of another person’s life is one of the approaches allowing to find an outcome for yourself. Trying to notice some positive moments in the life of others, we get out of a vicious circle.
