Top 4 Powerful Habits of Self Loving People For You To Try

We have all come across people who appear so fulfilled, happy and confident. They seem to have everything going for them, they light up every room they enter and are so full of joy. Just looking at them fills you with envy and curiosity. “How do they do it?”, you wonder. Is there some secret you are not aware of? What are they doing differently?

Well, the answer lies in the way they view themselves. If you are one of those who prefers wallowing in self-pity and sadness, you will always find yourself stuck in a rut. However, the day you choose to take your life in your hands and change your perception of yourself – you are sure to see a massive improvement in the way you feel and the way you approach life in general.

Self-love isn’t taught and nor is it guaranteed to stay once you feel you have reached that place. Self-love is an ongoing process – you need to constantly be at it and tell yourself positive affirmations to gain confidence and make a shift in your perspective.

Here are 4 powerful habits of people who love themselves, so you can get inspired to tread the same path –

1. Enjoy Quality ‘Me-Time’

We all focus on developing our relationship with people around us but how much time do we spend building our relationship with our own selves?

Self-love is all about building a relationship with yourself. It’s about understanding your needs and learning how to put them first. The only way to know yourself better is by cutting off the noise around you and spending more time with yourself.

Whether it’s going for a run alone, meditating or just listening to music all by yourself – it is important to be comfortable in your own presence because it gives you clarity, revitalizes your spirit and proves to be beneficial for your mental health.

2. Take Responsibility for Self-Loving

Picture this – you have a deadline to meet for your college essay and you have not even started work. What do you do? Do you blame yourself for procrastinating, blame the college for burdening you with work or take responsibility of the situation and accept that you need urgent college essay help?

It’s easy to play the blame game. What’s difficult is accepting the truth, finding a solution and acting upon it. Know that you are responsible for your happiness and life and take full responsibility of your thoughts, feelings and most importantly, the way you speak to yourself. So, be good to yourself and shut out that meaningless negative self-talk.

3. Stand Up for Themselves

You cannot expect to be treated with respect if you don’t treat yourself like that in the first place. Whether it’s that colleague who constantly puts you down or that arrogant sibling who takes you for granted – it is important to step up and show people how you deserve to be treated.

Self-loving people know exactly when and how to do it because they are confident of their capabilities and don’t choose to put up with people who don’t give them the respect and treatment they deserve.

There will be toxic people you will meet along the way, but you need to know where to draw your boundaries and keep such people out for the betterment of your own mental health.

4. Know when to Let Go

It’s extremely difficult to forgive, let go and move on. You find yourself coming back to that negative emotion and having it wreck your life, but you just aren’t able to let go.

Here’s where self-loving people act differently because they understand that harboring any emotion that only spreads negativity should be gotten rid of.

It’s tough but not impossible. You need to look at the bigger picture and give yourself more priority over everything else. If there is an emotion that is bringing out the worst in you or affecting your peace of mind – let it go because nothing matters more than your mental health.

Why Self-Love Is a Key to Success and it Helps You Grow

If someone were to ask you the following question, what would your answer be?

How much do you love yourself?

The answer to this question belongs only to you, and the importance is much higher than you believe. Self-love can have a grand impact on the choices you make in life, the things you are inviting in, and the effect you have on other people.

‘Your life is your own creation. Living on the basis of self-criticism will never bring you to improvement. If you want to achieve the things you aim for, you must learn to love yourself’ – explains Luke Megaton, a psychology writing expert at UK BestEssays.

For those who believe that criticizing yourself is essential to becoming successful, here is the truth behind the two choices:

Self-Love vs. Self-Criticism

Criticizing oneself is a choice, a tendency people have. Many of us see criticism as a tool essential for our improvement since the idea pushes us to live up to our higher standards.

But, what if I told you that you have been wrong all along? Instead of helping you become better, self-criticism makes you akin to sabotage your dreams and goals.

Without self-love, you can only hurt your productivity and performance. By doing this, you are hurting your well-being.

Self-Criticism Holds You Back

Here is how criticizing yourself reflects on your life

  • Self-criticism will make you focused on your flaws and decrease your confidence
  • Self-criticism builds on your fear of failure, which will make you give up easy and lead to rushed decisions
  • When you criticize yourself on regular basis, you are very unlikely to learn from the mistakes you are making

Yes, criticism may be beneficial for you in some cases, but you must find your own limit. As Alexander Pope once said: ‘’To err is human, to forgive, divine’’.

Self-Love Helps You Grow

  • Increases your motivation
  • Boosts your perspective and improves your decision-making skills
  • Self-love improves your relationships by making you happier and more confident
  • Self-love decreases depression and anxiety and boosts your psychological health
  • Makes you resilient, which helps you raise from failure and learn from the mistakes you make

Loving yourself is the best thing you can do to achieve great things in life. Starting with feeling good to looking confident in the eyes of others, you must learn how to love yourself more, and criticize yourself less.

Learning to Apply Self-Love in Your Life

Believe it or not, self-love is a learnable thing. There are so many things in life that will make you feel less worthy than you are. Some of these could decrease your self-confidence and make you judge your decisions.

Sometimes this will be beneficial and help you change the bad things. Although in most cases, letting others kill your self-love is the worst thing you can do.

If you want to improve your life and well-being, here is how you apply and grow self-love in your life.

1.      Find your mantra

Have you heard the word mantra’? To fight the stillness and anxiety, practice some meditation and find your mantra. Once you do, return to it every time you need a little boost. It helps you grow your inner peace and empower you.

2.      Get yourself some alone time

It is as simple as that – if you want to love yourself, find the time to love yourself. Whether it is a warm, calming bath before bed or drinking your favorite hot chocolate in front of the TV, get yourself some alone time. During this time, love yourself and nobody else.

3.      Find support

There will be times in life when you are struggling – we all have such times. However, just because you are having a rough patch doesn’t mean that you should do it alone.

We all need people in our lives, but not just any people. People who value us as individuals, and are positive. Such people will help you get through hard times and grow your qualities.

4.      Let yourself be vulnerable

Open up to others, no matter how hard it seems. People spend days and years keeping things to themselves, only to let these things out at the worst time possible. Set some time aside to be vulnerable with the people you love. Seeing people who love you will help you love yourself more.

5.      Notice yourself

In times of challenge and doubts, notice yourself. Instead of criticizing your every move when things go bad, seek the positive things you have. We all have them. It makes us grow and develop even more.

Put yourself in the shoes of people who love and admire you, and notice yourself from that position. Who do you see?

6.      Write to yourself

Yes, as ridiculous as it sounds, writing to yourself works. You can write yourself a letter or start a diary, but the important thing is to keep the conversation between you and yourself.

Talk to yourself as if you are talking to your dearest friend. Advise ‘your friend’ in tough times and tell them everyone can make mistakes. You can comfort yourself instead of attacking yourself, same as your best friend would do.

7.      Make a gratitude list

What are you grateful for? Write down five to ten things you are grateful for each day. It is very simple but very beneficial for your well-being and motivation. If you want to increase your self-love, give yourself good reasons to love yourself.

It can be something as simple as seeing a friend you haven’t seen in a while or eating your favorite ice cream on your day off. Just think of the things you feel grateful for.

Practicing your self-life can make all the difference in your life decisions and success. If you learn to stray from criticism and aim towards appreciating and loving yourself, you can grow and achieve more than you ever hoped for!

Magic Sparkles of Happiness: I Love People and People Love Me

Chapter 5 ~ I Love People and People Love Me

This article contains fragments from the chapter 5 of the book Magic Sparkles of Happiness.

“There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer….

No door that enough love will not open

No gulf that enough love will not bridge,

No wall that enough love will not throw down….

It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble,

How great the mistake,

Sufficient realization of love will resolve it all.

If only you could love enough,

You would be the happiest and most powerful being in the universe.” – Emmet Fox

I love my work and my work loves me.

I love life and life loves me. I love people and people love me. I love appreciation and appreciation loves me.

I love my daily activities and my daily activities love me. I love the Universe and the Universe loves me. I love books and books love me. I love my city and my city loves me.

I love self-love and self-love loves me. I love grace and grace loves me. I love serenity and serenity loves me. I love relief and relief loves me.

These affirmations make you feel love.

Feeling love makes you happy.
This self-training makes you conscious of how many things you actually love that you were not too aware of. What we love, we also have, in our reality.
So whatever you have, including the fact that you have yourself, you love.

You need to loudly say it or write it on a piece of paper that you love it. You might think you don’t feel that you love what you have since you never took the time to say that you love them.

All is love in this world; therefore what you have, you already have loved them. So say it, to yourself, say that you love everything you already have.
Bring this love into your consciousness. It is a long list, right? And is a long list for everyone. Every one of us already has a long, long, long list of things we already love.

We should take more time to become aware of them, to count them. And we will get used to become mesmerized of what we have. We will feel content, blessed and serene.

“What you seek is seeking you” – Rumi

Happiness is an energy process created by a higher force.

It exists in our world. Maybe in other worlds this process doesn’t exist. Although I think this higher force made it universal since it is one of the most beautiful creations and God loves this process very much.

I am comparing doing daily happiness with doing daily archery. Do we know what archery is? Yes we do… but in general. We acknowledge (validate) the existence of archery in the world. Same with happiness, we know it exists… but in general.

We acknowledge (validate) the existence of happiness in the world. But to acknowledge it, is not the same as to feel it. How do we feel it, if we don’t know much about it?

Related to archery, we could ask ourselves “How can I shoot every day from a bow?”. Because not many of us know much about archery, we don’t know how to practice it, do we?

Same with happiness, we can ask ourselves “How can I be happy every day?”. Let’s suppose we don’t know how to shoot with the bow and let’s also suppose that we don’t know how to be happy. What do we do next?

(…)

Among other insights, which I wanted to reveal through this parallel archery/happiness, I also wanted to prove that you cannot take happiness for granted.

Nobody was born with the archery knowledge.

Nobody was born a fully prepared adult which perfectly knows the happiness knowledge. We were all children.
Nobody knew from birth how to shoot with a bow. Nobody knew from birth how to persevere with his efforts, in feeling daily happiness.

Also, nobody can shoot with a bow in your place and then make you feel like you have shoot with the bow.
Nobody can be happy for you and then make you feel that you were happy in your life. Either you shoot with the bow or you don’t.

You just see other people doing it.

Either you initiate the happiness process and feel it or you don’t, you just see other people doing it.

Of course, archery and happiness are two different knowledge that they represent. You might think that archery is easier to learn than happiness.
But in my opinion, you have much more chances of practicing happiness in your life than archery.

There are more people practicing happiness in the world than people who practice archery. Eventually, each of us feel happiness in their life and not many of us will ever shoot with a bow in their life.
Happiness is at everyone close grasp. Take it and be happy!

“Ever since happiness heard your name, it has been running through the streets trying to find you” – Hafiz

“You don’t need to justify your love, you don’t need to explain your love, you just need to practice your love. Practice creates the master.” – Miguel Ruiz

Author’s word

This book contains positive affirmations that make you feel happy. I recommend you to read throughout the chapters, taking each sentence, one by one. The sentences are arranged in a certain serene flow but can also be read separately.

The writing of this book has begun with my daily writings. I had some blissful, full of love, mesmerizing days when I just felt that I want to connect my own being with positive, high and strong words. Then connect myself with everything around me, connect my consciousness with the reality outside me. In this state I began to write this book.
