Best 10 Things I Wish I Knew When I Was 25 Years Old

I’m not sure how many of you have done this, but throughout my life, I’ve always imagined what I would be like at a certain age. And once I’d actually reach that age, it was never like I imagined it would be, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The thing is, now that I am in my thirties, I don’t exactly feel like I am a totally different person than I was at 25. I’m just a little older, and little wiser, but I’m pretty much the same, with all my flaws and insecurities. However, what’s different is that I’ve learned to appreciate myself for who I am.

It seems so simple now, but several years ago, it was a code I couldn’t crack. I wish I had done some things differently, which is why I am writing this article to my former self and to everyone else who is 25 right now. You are already a great person, but you just don’t know it yet. Here are 10 things I wish I knew when I was 25.

1. Stop Worrying about What Other People Think of You

This is probably one of the biggest problems you will face when you are 25. You are an adult person, so why do you worry about the opinions of others? Now, this doesn’t mean you should ignore everyone and do stupid things. But don’t hang onto their praise, respect, and validation, because you don’t need it. Every person forms an opinion based on their own life experiences and the way they perceive the world around them, and so should you. After all, it’s your life.

2. Some of Your Plans Will Fall Through – and That’s OK!

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, your best-laid plans will not materialize, but that’s fine because you can’t control everything. There will always be external factors, circumstances, or even people, that will get in your way. But, that just means you will have to choose a different road in order to reach your destination. Or you will simply change your destination and find out that it’s much better than your old one, even if it didn’t seem like it at first.

3. Live in the Moment

While you are busy making those huge plans, don’t let life pass you by. Make the most of each day, no matter how crappy it seems, because there is always something good about it you can take away and remember later. And don’t put off doing things. If you can do something today, then do it. All of these decisions, choices, and actions are what make up the fabric of your tomorrow. So make them count.

4. Learn to Let Things Go

I have to admit, back when I was younger, I didn’t shy away from getting into arguments and conflicts when I believed I was absolutely right. But these days, every fight, every argument, and every conflict will eat away at me, regardless of being right or wrong in the end. Trust me, it’s way better to let go of those things and live your life, instead of thinking about the past. All those failed expectations, disappointments, regrets, anger, envy, and hate are just a burden.

5. Hard Work Will Pay Off

There is no such thing as an overnight success because you never get to hear the full story, involving all the ups and downs. Everything worthwhile requires time, patience, dedication, and hard work. Like those endless nights of cramming, so you can get a college degree and find a job that pays well. We live in an age where instant gratification is everything, and while it may feel good at times, it’s not something that will produce results in the long run.

6. Have Faith in Yourself

Having faith in your skills, talent, and abilities is crucial because that’s what will always drive you to try new things. And the reason why are unsure of ourselves and why we are afraid to try is faliure. We are scared of failing and scared of trying, because of failures in the past. But, making mistakes is all a part of growing up, and getting where you want to go. Stop doubting yourself.

7. Stand Up for Yourself

I know I’ve said that you should let go off conflicts and arguments, but you will also find that life is not fair. In fact, it can be pretty brutal and unjust, which is why you need to fight and stand up for yourself. Don’t compromise your integrity, even if it means you will be unpopular. This also means standing up to authority figures, such as your boss, if they are out of line. You might lose your job, but it’s not your job to be someone’s doormat.

8. Learn to Save Money

You don’t need to become Ebenezer Scrooge, but you should learn how to be smart about money. You don’t have to start saving up for your retirement just yet, but you also don’t have to spend it on every pointless gadget and fad that comes along every 15 minutes. Put aside some amount each month and spend it on something that has some real worth.

9. Take Care of Your Health

I know, when you are 25, you feel as if you’re immortal, but pretty soon, your body will start breaking down, unless you begin to take better care of it. Sure, you may still enter a beer-chugging or chili eating competition, but unlike before, it will now come back to haunt you. You will also gain weight more easily since your metabolism will slow down. Give it a boost by exercising regularly.

10. Spend Time with Your Loved Ones

Whether it’s your family, friends, or your partner, make sure to set aside enough time inside the day for them, because they are the ones who love you unconditionally, and who will support you no matter what. You don’t want to look back one day and regret not spending enough with them, just because you were busy building your career.

At 25, you are your own person, yet you are young enough to still have fun and make plans. It should be the best period of your life. And it will be if you keep these 10 tips in mind whenever you start doubting yourself. Follow your dreams and good luck!

Reflective Reality: Reflections of the Inner Universe Here

There is a universe that resides inside of me, a sort of reflective reality, for the universe is a most radical reflection of me. For I am ever-expanding like the sea, rooted and grounded like that an oak tree, all while transcendently resting in the ineffable infinity that is our galaxy.

Am I here, no am I really here? Simultaneously sensing that the beginning and the very end rests in this time’s sphere. Feeling as though my physical existence has vanished, most swiftly disappeared. Filled with a felicitous kind of fear, internally inquiring with my inner self whether I will make it out of here.

Senses overwhelmed as I; hear, smell, and see things ever so clear. For the universe, has never felt ever so near. As I am enveloped in the universe’s ever-expanding love, I am emphatically embraced with a most heavenly hug. Interwoven with the galaxy, stars, and the moon above my spirit is overflowing with a bounty of the purest form of love.

For your divine destiny can be found in written in the celestial skies above, paved with eternal love. And so, the next time you find your mind’s eye gazing up at the sky, know that the universe is looking back at you, resting in the soul of you, you are looking back at the reflection that is you.

This connection to the constellations makes one realize that endless possibilities reside within you, an eternity of endless treasures shall forever await you.

Reflections of the Soul of me Serenity To Enliven The Spirit

Our ever-expanding universe has undoubtedly blessed me with the oh so glorious gift of pouring out the oh so positively peaceful poetry that has indelibly been written on each and every vessel of my beating heart.

As I honor the universe, assuring to live out my life’s purpose too; uplift, inspire, and empower others by gracing them with my most rhythmic rhapsodies, allows for each soul to stop for a moment in time.  For there is profound power in being able to consciously connect, caressing another’s the unconscious mind. I must admit, that through the wonderment of words, it invokes in me a feeling that is ineffably one of a kind.

In an effort to provide your dearly beloved soul a glimpse into the reflections of my soul, In the words of Henry David Thoreau, this is my goal ” to live deeply and suck out the marrow of life” for this is what ignites a fire in my spirit, making me feel wondrously whole. The profoundly perfect stream of words spoken by Mr. Thoreau resonated with the effervescent essence that is me, so remarkably raptured the very soul of me wholeheartedly.

It is as if for a moment in time, I was Mr. Thoreau and he was me. Living life deeply is what gives my life purpose. It so promisingly propels me towards my most divine destiny.

I am enamored and inspired by every astoundingly amazing aspect of this beloved blessed life. From marveling in awe at the beautiful bounty of nature, keenly listening to the whispers of wise willow trees to gazing at the gorgeous glare of ever so brightly shining stars.  Progressively Pontificating our very existence here on earth, forever inquisitive about why we are the way that we are.

Finding solace in those solitary moments when I was comforted in clarity by the ever-translucent fact that we are the most radical reflections of our most glorious galaxy. Realizing that although our universe appears to be ever reaching, ever-expanding, out of reach, and ever so far, we are cosmically connected and thus this kismet connection has an impact on the very reason that we are who we are.

In soaking in the vivaciously vibratory words enlisted above, you may sense that my writings are inspired by the very depths of life, inspired not only by that which our eye sees but also those intangibles that can’t be seen but only felt, with the intention to find out what it means for you and me. It is my heart’s hope that my spiritually enlightened writings on; life, depth of emotions, the power of love, and the interconnectedness of it all shall stimulate and invigorate the; mind, body, and soul like that of the most gracefully refreshing rainfall.

Overall, I can only wish that it serves to inspire others to become increasingly more in tune with the love and light that resides in us all, propelling others to respond to every call that excites our wonder-filled spirits once and for all.

All in all, working towards the most marvelously miraculous mission for positively peaceful inspirations to behold each and every soul with overwhelming elation, so graciously taking flight, laying a most felicitous foundation across our nation. Transcending our universe’s collective consciousness straight towards the constellations. Cradling each heart in the purest form of serenity, and completely awe-inspiring adoration.

Sincerely,

Serenity

How Writing a Novel Helped my Friend to Find Herself Again

I had heard that writing could help you to improve yourself. And not only in the sense of giving you the tools required to get a new job or better grades at school. But also as a person.

That when it is only you and a piece of paper something magical and also scientifically proven can happen, that your mind just takes a turn for the best.

What I didn’t expect was that writing a novel would have such an impact on my friend’s life.

This friend of mine had always been quite shy and insecure. Confidence wasn’t one of her strengths, really. Since childhood (as we lived in the same neighborhood), I had seen her struggling to make friends, to speak her mind, and to get what she wanted.

It was usually I who had to make a stand for her. I would notice her embarrassment (what wasn’t really hard to spot considering she would turn herself into a beetroot), and there I was, from asking to buy something over the counter to defending her against the newest bully in town.

It was never a problem for me to do it for her, to be honest. I kind of liked it. But as soon as I started getting a bit older, and with a bit more of sense, I began to worry about what would be of her in the future.

It wasn’t like I could be with her on a date or a job interview, for example. She would have to learn to say what she needed to say and to do what she wanted to do by herself.

And yet nothing much changed until we got into our 20s. We were both attending the same college, but I had enrolled myself in Marketing studies while she was doing Literature and other things of the genre.

I am not afraid to say that the only thing that I could think at that stage was how she was planning to get a job with that sort of knowledge because it wasn’t like she was going to be a teacher. She wouldn’t be able to speak in front of a class full of students, I was sure about it.

But, one day, she came to me and told me that she was writing a novel.

My first reaction was “oh, well, another thing to get her even more isolated”, but then she started telling me about the plot, a story about a young girl who had been kidnapped and was trying to deal with her feelings of fear and despair by writing a journal.

She said she had found inspiration on Anne Frank’s story, the German-born Jewish girl who wrote a remarkable diary while hiding from the Nazis. She thought it was impressive the way that Anne managed to leave so many inspiration to us and to keep such a positive image of human beings despite what she was going through.

But what I had got more impressed about was how similar was my friend’s book’s main character with herself. I could see how she was pouring her own soul in those pages, that the girl’s words were her own, that her dreams were my friend’s so-long-forgotten dreams.

Over the time that my friend spent concentrated writing her novel, I also noticed an improvement in the way that she thought about almost everything. She sounded less confused, her speaking was more clear and direct, and she even sounded a bit more confident.

Thanks to the criminal plot she was working on, I believe she became more capable of thinking logically and seeing problems and challenges from a new perspective. But, more than anything, she sounded happier and motivated.

I understand now that examining her own feelings carefully, but under the impression that she was talking about someone else’s life, my friend set herself free. She released her frustrations and started managing to say what was going on in her mind without fear.

Not that she has changed from water to wine, but the improvement is there for anyone to see. I wasn’t the only one noticing her confidence blossoming out, as our other friends and even her teachers were impressed by her progress.

So I am sharing this with you so you can also give it a try. Don’t worry if you don’t have an original idea to write about Set fire on the pieces of paper after you finish your story if you like.

Just grab a notebook and a pen, or your laptop, and start writing any piece of fiction you might like. The benefits of this decision will remain in your mind and in your heart from that moment, and so on.

Top 5 Reasons Why Doing What You Love Makes Great Work

You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning and for a moment you’re floating in a haze of well-being, only to have it torn apart by the realization that you have to go to work soon? I do. Those moments were horrible. It wasn’t always there. Some days were better than others, but it was there often enough to be a serious bummer. After all, that shouldn’t be the way to start your day. Doing what you love will help you have better mornings.

The thing is, it turns out I’m not the only person who feels that way. In fact, less than half of Americans are happy at their work. That might not be so bad as in 2010 when only 40% of people liked their job, but that doesn’t change the facts. The vast majority would experience more mental wellbeing doing something else, doing something they love.

And the thing is, that would be great for employers too. After all,

1. A happy employee is a more productive employee

Research has shown that happy employees are on average 12% more productive than their less happy counterparts. What’s more, they’re more protected from stress and illness, they’re less likely to experience negative emotions, they live longer, they take less sick days and they’re much less likely to leave for another company. In other words, there are nothing but benefits. And yet so few employers are really doing anything with this information.

Well if they aren’t, then we’re going to do it ourselves! The first step for finding the best job is writing the stunning CV (you can check some top websites for help). So, let’s look at some of the best reasons why you should think about finding work that you love. The best reason has to be:

2. Flow

Flow is wonderful. It’s a mental state where everything – your problems, your to-do list, your itches, your cold feet – for a time falls away as you lose yourself in what you’re doing. It leads to positive emotions as well as an experience of wellbeing. It also makes you far more productive, as you bend yourself to the task at hand and let nothing distract you.

The thing is, Flow is not something that is just achieved one, two, three. You need to actually be completely engaged in the activity to have it. And the only way that that can happen is if you actually truly enjoy doing it. Even then, you’ve got to practice, so that you have enough confidence that the doubt monster doesn’t pull you back to the surface. For that reason, it’s vital to try to find work that’s more engaging so that you don’t only get to experience this in your free time.

Then there’s:

3. Intrinsic Motivation

In psychology, they talk about two kinds of motivation, intrinsic and extrinsic. Intrinsic means that it comes from inside of you, so, for example, you are motivated to do the Sudoku puzzle because it interests you and when you finish it you feel satisfied and don’t expect any other kind of reward. Extrinsic motivation, on the other hand, is external. This is money, praise or anything similar.

The research has shown that when your primary motivation is external, you’re far less likely to enjoy what you’re doing. In fact, often the simple act of giving somebody an extrinsic reward will make them enjoy the task less and will generally not get them perform better at it either.

The only counter agent against that is if they love what they do. Then chances are good that they will continue to love it, despite the introduction of extrinsic rewards such as money. In other words, they continue to be motivated by the act itself, instead of seeing it as a means to an end as jobs are for most of us.

And that’s important because:

4. If you love what you’ll do you’ll keep doing it

And that’s a vital part of what makes doing what you love so important. Even in the down times, you’ll still gain satisfaction from it – heck, you’d do it for free if you had to. That means two things. First of all, it means that instead of your work dragging you further down on your bad days, it lifts you up. It acts as a high point in your day rather than something that you need to recover from.

Secondly, it means that you’re going to put in the hours to make certain that whatever you’re working on is going to be at the top of its game. And that is how you get noticed and make a splash. As nothing impresses quite as much as something that’s perfect.

Except, maybe, for something made with:

5. Real Passion

I don’t know what it is about real passion, but you can see it in an end product. If you visit a restaurant where the cook cares about what they’re doing, the food somehow has something that an uncaring cook will never have. You can see it in everything – words on a page, paint on a canvas, even in the bricks in a wall.

And wouldn’t the world be so much more beautiful if everything around you was filled with the passion of the people that created it? It certainly would feel us with more passion if we get to look at what we do and be proud of it.

Conclusion

We’ve got to do what we love! Because if we’re doing it for money then where does the joy come in? After all, beyond a certain limit where we can put food on the table and meet our friends at a café, money doesn’t really change how happy we are. In fact, I suspect most people buy all the stuff they do in part because they’re trying to fill the hole left in their lives because they’re not engaged with what they’re doing. But you can’t fill the absence of meaning in your life with a new coach or a new phone. You can only fill it by finding meaning. And that means doing something we love.

So what are we all waiting for?
